That is a glorious line, I've always like characters who look plot foreshadowing in the eye, stare down prophecy and otherwise tell predestination to go fuck itself.

This is perfect :D
I LOVE playing around with story-conventions - and that obviously includes defying normal conventions!

On the tactical side, Durkon has his staff - Laurin isn't gone, you can see her in-panel, she just used a short-range teleport.

"Well yeah."
"...okay I see your point."

Between this, Julio's puns, and the sight of Tarquin getting *whompf*ed in the face this is the most I've laughed at an OotS in awhile.

I laughed at Durkon's BatBeard. And I'm glad Blackwing rescued Bloodfeast. "His Number One Fan" indeed.
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers

Bloodfeast is family, even if distantly so.

I'm just wondering what will happen when the Baleful Polymorph wears off.

Baleful Polymorph doesn't wear off - it's permanent until something disrupts the spell.

Batdurkon is cute, and I have an idea how Belkar dies: he gets eaten by Bloodfeast.

I doubt Bloodfeast is going to eat Belkar. The Belkster seems to have invested ranks in Handle Animal at some point (he certainly doesn't have the charisma to pull anything off without ranks) and likely has a bonus for having treated BF well in the dungeons. The fastest way to an animal's heart is through its stomach, and Belkar got that out of the way a while ago.

I'm really worried Julio is getting too cocky about this. The main thing is that Tarquin is focused on Elan and Roy, if he gives his full attention to Julio, Julio might get cut to ribbons.

Scoundrél can fly away, while I believe Tarquin is stranded. No way he foresaw losing his team.

Until Tarquin counter puns by pulling the rug from under him.

I personally think Julio will survive. The Order win in that they don't die, but Elan will have to return to end his dads reign later. Tarquin loses in that he doesn't get the motivation he wants.

A less likely option imo is that Julio dies here giving Elan motivation to come back later. Julio's last word to his crew was that Elan is command of the ship now. Tarquin kind of wins in that by killing Julio he's ensured Elan takes his place and becomes a kind of leader simply by commanding the ship.

Which would require only a trifling effort on Durkon or V's part, if Belkar can only convince them.

I still think we're due Mentor Death, 1 piece, express delivery. Darth Vader/Obi Wan themes logical conclusion, though maybe with minor subversion in the end.

Well Julio seems to be handling Tarquin ably. But as Serafina pointed out the Psion didn't actually go far so maybe her return will be very bad for Julio.

Julio surviving would be a nice "in your face" to Tarquin. I really want Tarquin to be thoroughly humiliated here, and then die.

932

And 932 is up! Sorry folks, you guys don't get your wish.

Julio recounts of his exploits suggest this WILL result in a massive mentor death scene, but then again, we have been misled before. And meanwhile, great fan of his work indeed:D

Wouldn't count Tarquin out yet. Not having a means of flight handy would be a pretty big oversight on his part.
