Robert Clark/Herald Sun: Human rights help terrorists/pedos

Post by adam_grif »

ATTORNEY-General Robert Clark's decision to order a parliamentary inquiry into Victoria's Charter of Human Rights is welcomed.

Mr Clark is clearly not happy with the impact the charter -- introduced by former Labor attorney-general Rob Hulls in 2008 -- is having on the functioning of the law.

The Sunday Herald Sun hopes the inquiry comes back with a finding that the charter should be torn up.

We believe the rights of honest Victorians are already enshrined in common law and the Hulls charter was nothing more than a gesture to keep Left-wing, inner-city lawyers feeling even more comfortable than they already are.

Mr Clark has asked Parliament's Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations Committee to report back by October 1, saying the charter has been "controversial since the day it was introduced".

Mr Clark says supporters argue the charter enhances human rights and brings Victoria into line with international human rights law.

But critics, he points out, say it delivers vague and open-ended powers into the hands of judges and undermines Parliament.

As the Sunday Herald Sun has repeatedly pointed out, the charter has been hijacked by criminals.

Killers, drug dealers, pedophiles and terrorists have all attempted to use it in long-running legal fights.

Mr Clark, this charter serves no purpose.

Get rid of it. Then the justice system can focus on doing what it should be doing -- prosecuting criminals.

Can any of our Australian legal guys shed some light on this? Is this what it seems, or is the Victorian Charter on Human Rights really just part of the pro-terrorist pro-pedophile left-wing agenda?
A scientist once gave a public lecture on astronomy. He described how the Earth orbits around the sun and how the sun, in turn, orbits around the centre of a vast collection of stars called our galaxy.

At the end of the lecture, a little old lady at the back of the room got up and said: 'What you have told us is rubbish. The world is really a flat plate supported on the back of a giant tortoise.

The scientist gave a superior smile before replying, 'What is the tortoise standing on?'

'You're very clever, young man, very clever,' said the old lady. 'But it's turtles all the way down.'
