Glimpse of Sanity in the South, Judge won't reinstate Coach
Living here in the South I am hit with the religious zelots constantly. Once in a great while some sanity prevails. Essentially a Coach at the University of Georgia tried to force cheerleaders to attend bible study classes at her home. When a Jewish student complained the school fired her. She went ...

In space visual detection should be a far second place to spoofing long range sensors. All manner of technobabble can be concocted to absorb/deflect incoming emissions, and I'm not sure why this would require a great expenditure of energy. The ST cloaks appear to be an active system, creating a bla...

Re: Writing a "realistic" cloaking device
So, how would you attempt to write a "realistic" cloaking device? I'm not a scientist and I'll say that up front so before every pounces on me for being completely stupid here's my thought. Something like the James Bond, Die Another Day car. Supposidly small cameras were placed all over t...

Exactly. And any logical person would say that he didn't kill an entire species by creating an entire fleet of ships. Logic would say that he didn't create a magical army. And only the blazingly retarded would make up a mental power to explain it. Because any sensible person understands the logical...

'He killed them because he got angry' therefore 'He can wipe them out by thninking of it'? Your grasp of logical deduction is apparently non-existant. The ST writers were the one that put that dialogue in the episode, not I. So before you jump down my throat about it, speak with them. Show me the q...

He said he killed them because he got angry. Obviously a power enough being to eridacate a species by thinking about it could choose alternatives. (if you got angry with me and chose to shoot me instead of flattening my tires wouldn't it be the same?) 'He killed them because he got angry' therefore...

Did anyone else notice that the story of the Doud requires that he be incapable of stopping the Husnock in any way other than killing them? He couldn't just disable their weapons, shut down their power core, etc? He had to sit there and do nothing because he will not kill, while everyone around him...

Re: intelectual property in Fed communism?
Part of being in a communist nation is that the State is entitled to take all your good ideas and share them amongst the Greater Good, without necessarily giving you compensation. Offhand, I can't think of an example of such forced sharing extracted from an ordinary Fed civilian. In fact, when Geor...

Douwd? What the hell have they done except impersonate a piss-weak starship? Q take this. The Prophets don't do much outside of the Wormhole, the Founders shouldn't even be here, Uxbridge is just one guy, and the Traveller was at his best outside our Galaxy. The Q were able to harm each other and k...

Battle of the ST Omnipotent
I was thinking. In a hypothetical battle between the ST omnipotent who would prevail and why? *The Q *Kevin Uxbridge (remember he committed genocide against an entire species by simply thinking about it) *The Prophets *The Pahraeths (sp?) *The Founders who else? I say of the ones I've listed, I'd pu...

Re: Which is worse ?
Ok Voyager and Enterprise are considered the least good of all Trek shows. Which do you think is worse ? Enterprise easily. The Nazi story arc was when ST reached its absolute low point as a franchise. In terms of Voyager, there are several good espisodes that come to mind: *Author, Author -- The D...
