Help my wife get out of jail! (MDA Fundraiser)

I cleared this with Edi first, so, here goes...

My wife, as part of our local business community, has volunteered to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. To wit, she has committed herself to raise $2400 dollars for MDA. The local police pick her up tomorrow, and if she makes bail - the $2400 dollars - she gets sprung early.

Uhm, what? Why is she being arrested to begin with?

It's a Fund Raiser type thing, I've seen it done before. The Police will "arrest" a person for X amount of time, unless the "Bail" (the amount they pledged to raise) is obtained. It's all done in good fun, and in the name of a good cause.
