[RAR!] Just one man. Or woman.

OK - the deal is this. By power of random invisible sky pixie, you have to nominate who is to take control of the United States right now.

This person will have the complete loyalty of military, political and other public structures. Their will shall be law. If they want to nuke somewhere, then it's nuked. No questions asked. They want to completely reform the govenment? It's going to be done. Strangle Ban Ki Moon for threatening their hegemony? Then he shall be delivered to the White House giftwrapped by the military men who raided the UN to capture him.

So, this single person will have utter control of the nation, and given the nation's standing - and amazing amount of control over the world as a whole.

The person can be anyone from history, but not a fictional character. They will magically be granted a working knowledge of modern science and technology, economics, geopolitics etc.

Personally? I'd kind of like to see Hammurabi step into the modern day. One of the true founders of civilisation seeing what's going on now - could be pretty interesting. Plus, you know that he'd get that Iraq shit sorted quick-smart and rebuild his palace.

It would be interesting to bring in a Foudning Father such as Jefferson, and then watch modern day Republicans call him a godless heathen and traitor for wanting the US to be a secular country.

Can I nominate someone from modern age? Like, a fellow SDN member? Nominating historic figures doesn't sound well with the evolution of public morals, really.

And if only historic, how far does history go? Can I nominate a late relative of mine just to have fun taking control over the US with my family

Sorry, should have made it more clear - any historic figure.

Meaning anyone NON-FICTIONAL.

I nominate Curtis LeMay.

Probably, Von Braun, as it might usher in a new era of exploration.

I'd nominate my resurrected dead Grandma.

She was a woman who insisted on her car being fitted with seatbelts in the 1950s because it was safer. She recycled Glad Wrap (along with everything else) because she was concerned about the environment. Once again, she'd been doing this since the '50s.

She was also very good at teaching her grandchildren not to gobble. My other grandma would tell us off, but this one would simply not give you any more bread and jam until everyone else had finished theirs. As a result, we all learnt to eat at the same speed as the slowest person. I'm not entirely sure how this bit is relevant, but I'm certain it would have some bering on how she would shape her law and order policies.

Or I could nominate Castro, just for a laugh. Or my cat. I think it would be funny to see the full might of the US military deployed because the president insisted on having a good pat at the same time as was eating her fish. It would also be interesting to see what a cat would do with a working knowledge of modern science, technology, economics etc.

I didn't see anything in the OP that prevents a person from nominating themselves into the position...

Um, for the simple reason that i loved him as a leader: Gordon B. Hinckley (Yes i'm mormon, so sue me )

Another: Winston Churchill. guy was a bad ass and a half, knew how to take care of business, and extremely charismatic.

Hmm. I'd be curious to see how Jesus would handle the Iraq situation, and what all the conservative Christians would think about him hanging around in the flesh, running a war and handling international relations and all that.

Maybe he's not an egomaniac, just a megalomaniac. Doesn't think he's the best person for the job, just wants the power.

Tony Blair.

Just to make Gordon's day about him still being his boss. :P (Which could happen anyway if he gets to be president of Europe)

More seriously though and leaving out simply making myself King of America so that I can correct their heretical deviancy from the colonial ideal I'd probably hand Obama the presidency, he's likely the best person for the job at the moment and giving the position to people from the past strikes me as a very bad idea considering their pretty much all going to be imperialist racist warmongers and handing them nucelar weapons would likely be very bad indeed.

I would imagine, if Jefferson had such power, he'd call a second constitutional convention.

Are there any limits about how long they will rule, and what state of health they are in?

Ann Coulter.

After six month of that, people will finally recognize that she IS the antichrist, and therefore there must be Jesus somewhere right?

Maybe Otto von Bismarck, I think he was a good diplomat and tried to keep most people happy to not gain more enemies.

Or Genghis Khan, then U.S.A. would finally become an Empire officially.

I would put one condition to the chosen though, go METRIC.

The point of the OP is you're trying to put someone in power who's views and methods are ones you personally approve of...so who could possibly be a better candidate for that criteria than myself?
