Well this'll be interesting to watch. I doubt they can expel Scientology from the Internet, though it should be fascinating to see them try. My sympathies lie with Anonymous.

I think this is going to go beyond a purely internet war. There are lists of fax and telephone numbers to hit circulating, along with names and home & business addresses. Apparently a few 'churches' have been vandalized with spraypaint, and the site I linked above has tips for sabotaging cars.

Holy fuck, they've recruited a bunch of bored teenagers.

Quite frankly, Scientology now has major problems.

Unless the Hacker culture has changed since my day (which was "many moons ago", or roughly 10 years), Hackers were both very supportive/c-operative with each other, and viciously competitive.

I see 3 scenarios from the Hacker perspective occuring

#1 - (Least likely) Some hackers try to stop this to say 'lolz, I stopped the war on Scientology'
Very few sane people I know on the Internet, let along the hacker community, like Scientology. Hell, helping them might make you the next hacker target

#2 - Multiple hacker groups helping out Anonymous, in effect escalating the attacks on scientology, to the point were they literally have no choice but to abandon there presence on the Internet. At which point, odds are it will shift into technological based attacks off the Internet.

Which make's me wonder if some of the variant Phreak boxes still work now adays? Probably be limited to land line functionality, if at that.

#3 - Hacker groups will not co-operate with each other (or will in small 'alliances'), but will be competing to who can cause the longest lasting, quickest occuring, and most frequent problems for Scientology. The Scientology website might be mutated and hacked apart every time it goes back on, and it could escalate.

Then there's script-kiddies to consider as well.
To those that don't know; a Script-kiddie is a 'Wanna-be' Hacker that uses pre-defined tools (usually released by a Hacker group when they are done with them), to attack sites. i.e Denial of Service attacks, etc.
I can see script-kiddies joining this and attacking Scientology to prove they are 'L33T'

Unless something like this is crushed, and quickly, Scientology is going to have serious headaches.

This could be very interesting to watch.
Especially if Scientology has any government pull or support.

Then again, it could blow over and no one care.
