It's become awfully quiet on this board, so I thought I'd try and liven things up a bit and post these. I've been playing around with motion blur and fogs & suchlike on Lightwave, so i made some quick wallpapers while I was at it. These are some of the results. A couple are sort of Trek related, but I've also been doing a few with military aircraft and vehicles, so I thought about this board for them. Here they are anyway...
I was always in love with the little Ka25 and 27 Hormone/Helix choppers. They looked so compact and tough compared to the long, thin Western types with their tail rotors. I got the urge to make a dedicated Russian analogue of the Tigre or similar new attack choppers, and thought this fitted best.
Very cool. The only thing i´d complain about is the lighting and compositing of the helicopter. It´s too saturated i think too green. If you reduce those on the helocopter it will look more compelling.
This would also be a good image to use an HDRI for lighting.
I will do a better one, this was thrown together very quickly just to test motion blur settings. Its also not a very detailed model, so doesn't stand up to clse scrutiny, so bright and a bit washed out helps hide that.
Photography Genius is always allowed some leeway, once the hammer has been pried from its hands and the blood has been cleaned up.
To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.
Lovely work. BTW, did you ever finish the Russian sub?

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

Jesus Christ that helicopter looks good. Seriously, it just is pure awesome.
It has become clear to me in the previous days that any attempts at reconciliation and explanation with the community here has failed. I have tried my best. I really have. I pored my heart out trying. But it was all for nothing.
You win. There, I have said it.
Now there is only one thing left to do. Let us see if I can sum up the strength needed to end things once and for all.
Thanks guys, glad you like it. I'm always tempted to try again with a transport helo in the mould of the Blackhawk, but I've never really managed to get a shape I'm happy with. Maybe I'll try again during the holidays.
It's the USS Detroyat, a design by a guy called Mike Morrissette. Aparently it's quite well known but I'd never heard of it when a guy commissioned me to make it for him. I had to make a couple of slight changes to the design, and ended up working with Mike on a revised version of it. Here's the only renders I could find...
As for the Transport chopper, I think if I went along the lines of the compound designs I'd use a jet variant rather than props. I'm sure they're rapid machines, but with all those props everywhere they look rather old fashioned. A jet variant might end up looking like the choppers in a Gerry Anderson TV show, but could be worth a try. If I get a chance today I'll try a couple of basic models and maybe post a suggestions thread here for opinions and help.
LOL, I was just this second playing around with it. My mates a big Star Wars fan, so to bug him I've been sending him pictures of Star Trek ships with the decals changed so that they're named after him.
