Re: SDN-dragons! (RAR, detailed)
Change of plans: I lay claim to being young enough to be one of LadyTev's kids and join up with her & Nit, offering to trade alliance as a powerful dragon once "I" grow up a hundred years or so for protection from everybody else right now.
Also, I don't sense enough interest for a full-blown SDGOD, but with another player or two I can see running a modified version of the RAR as a D&D game.

Going by the miniature of your kind published by Wizards of the Coast, there is no blue on you.LadyTevar wrote:Ah. Solauren, you are so amusing. You do not have to lie about me being bright and shiny. I know my scales are dark as a smoldering fire, my wings the bluish ashes. Or should I say they're the color of spilled blood, and my wings the red-blue veins it spilled from?
(Checks over it again)
Nope, no blue. Some nice dark shades of red, however.

I'd totally be up for a D&D-game. With my messed up sleep cycles (it's 4AM around here right now) i could potentially even participate in a chat-based one if it's mainly played by US-Americans, though i'd obviously prefer times where i don't have to sacrifice a night of sleep.

How long do you think we would have before someone reveals the existence of dragons ?LadyTevar wrote:When we do decide to go public,

Also, any guesses to the reaction once the public knows that we are all members of SD.net* ?
Especially from Lucasfilm and Paramount.
As a Copper Dragon I approve of the story you plan to give the media.

I'd say within 24 hours. There's got to be at least one person here who is stupid enough to let his draconic pride and rage overcome his common sense in public. Or a member of the AYVB decides a little Suggestion and some magic showboating would be real handy at the bar. If nothing else one of the Young-aged might try for the Randi prize.

The other question is; how long until the Ancient+ aged dragons figure that out, divided up the use list, and snare everyone up for a sit down and 'okay, we need to talk'. There are something like 150 of dragons of that power level.
Either that or a whole shit load of Sending Spells.

Sending, not so much. People can decide to ignore that, and most of the dragons one would worry about (the stupider ones) probably would.Solauren wrote:Forgothrax wrote:I'd say within 24 hours. As for snagging everyone up... if all the high-levels worked together, they could put a lid on this pretty darn quick. However, that relies on a fast, very very coordinated response which we're unlikely to get. I cite Murphy.

If the first people to wake up transformed do so as the US and Canada go to sleep, the majority of the Ancient+ dragons aren't going to wake up in time to stop anything.
And, lets face it, Q would start the transformation at the time and date he deems most entertaining. Which probably means the secret is out before most of the Ancient+'s wake up. Unless he knows that one of them will reveal everything.

Nope, no blue. Some nice dark shades of red, however.
The wings have a bluish or blue-black tinge along the trailing edge (the dragon's frills show a similar pattern); the color resembles metal burned blue in a fire.

Serafina: I was thinking Dec 13, 2012 myself, because I forgot when the First Dragon Sighting was in ShadowRun. Either way the "End of the Cycle" adds a fun little twist to the Draconic Awakening.
There is only one thing that has been bothering me. Q may be doing this to amuse himself, but he usually is trying to push Humanity to grow in ST:TNG. So, the question is who is Q testing; us, or the remaining normal humans? Is this a test of their reaction to finally meeting a sentient, alien 'race'?

In more forward thinking, I whole heartily put forth the nomination of Lady Tevar as our official spokes Dragon.
As the eldest (and most active of the eldests) poster in this thread, she is more then capable of leading the younger among us.
I also like the idea of the proposed date for our "coming out" part being at the end of 2012. The world will be excited in the same way it was approaching the year 2000. All the kooks and wackos will be expecting "something" how much fun would it be to give them a good show.
Granted a year will be a 'short' amount of time for us to prepare, but I would think e should be up to it.
I would also like to ask the Lafy's formal approval for the Crossroadian Long Now Foundation.
Co-Opting the existing "Long Now Society should be one of our goals, as it is a rather robust organization already committed to trying to help humanity think along the lines we will trying to move things toward. Thinking in 100 and 1000 years, not just one at a time.
Praying is another way of doing nothing helpful

I have been working on my stats as a Dragon. Based on my HD alone, I get 13 feats. Due to the fears of breaching the "Wall Between Worlds", I voluntarily give up all access to the Conjuration Sphere/School of Spells.
BTW: Draconomicon has a few nifty spells that specifically target your breath weapon. "Animate Breath" is particularly nasty, as your breath weapon becomes a Construct one size smaller than caster.
Crossroads, you flatter me. While I will have Nitram to reign me in, are you *sure* you want a Red Dragon as your spokesman?
Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.

Re: SDN-dragons! (RAR, detailed)
There are some really nifty things you can do as a dragon if you focus on your breath weapon
First, get Flyby Attack so that you can do Strafing Runs with it.
Recover Breath is an obvious choice unless you go for a specific strategy. Note that you can stack this with Rapid Breath from Savage Species for some really rapid-fire breathing, or reducing the impact of metabreath feats.
Well then, here's what metabreath feats can do:
Clinging Breath will cause everyone hit by your breath weapon to take half that damage again in the next round. And you can extend that for several rounds if you want to. This is probably the best feat - it'll add at least +50% damage to your breath for just one addition round of waiting, unless people choose use a full round to remove it, in which case you'll have forced them to spend a round doing nothing.
Enlarge Breath is pretty simple: Hit more people with your breath weapon. Useful if you've got a lot of enemies to roast, or if a smaller group of enemies stands wide apart. Also allows you to hit enemies further away.
Heighten Breath: This allows you to increase the DC of your breath weapon - by up to your constitution bonus. It's normally expensive to use (since you have to wait an additional round to use your breath again per +1DC), but see later.
Lingering Breath will cause your breath weapon to leave a zone behind which will everyone inside to be affected by your breath weapon again. And you can cause it to stay for more rounds if you want to.
Maximized Breath: Same as the spell.
Quicken Breath: Useless IMO. Using your breath weapons is well worth an action, especially if you focus on it, and waiting four additional rounds is really nasty.
Shape Breath: Switch between the two forms of breath weapon (cone and line). Extremely useful if you have a line breath weapon, since cones are often better (since they hit more people).
Spreading Breath will cause your Breath Weapon to, well, spread around your head. I only really see this as useful if you are grounded and surrounded.
Split Breath halves the damage of your breath, but you fire two cones/lines instead of one, which obviously allows you to hit more people.
Tempest Breath will add a wind effect to your breath weapon. Very useful for airborne duels, almost useles against foes on the ground since it's instantaneous and thus not hindering.
Now there is obviously a lot of choice here, but here's the deal:
You don't have to choose at all. Simply take all the feats and apply all the effects at once - unlike metamagic, there is no upper limit, you just have to wait longer which at some point won't matter in a single battle anymore. Even better, you can choose a duration as long as you want for Clinging and Lingering Breath. Sure, that way you can only use your breath weapon once per battle, but you can make it really count that way.
A Red Great Wyrm that employs this method would have a breath weapon that deals 240 damage with a DC of 50, in a cone that is 105 feet long, high and wide or a line that is 210 feet long. Anyone hit by it would take 120 damage until they make a DC 48 (if they roll on the ground) reflex save. Sure, by now you have to wait 1D4+14+(whatever duration you choose for clinging breath) rounds to use it again, but the battle is effectively over. And if 240 damage is not enough for you, you can use Breath Weapon Admixture (an 8th-level spell) to add yet another 240 damage of any damage type you want, or Enervating Breath to inflixt 8 negative levels and make sure that they won't remove your breath weapon.
This strategy obviously renders recover breath redundant, unless you want to take it in case you have to deal with minor nuisances which don't warrant your full might
TL;DNR: If you want to burn the world Lady Tevar, you can totally do so

I'll be honest, I always thought your SD Nick name should have been "honorary sd.net mother" with regard to the amount of people you have taken under your wing over the years. While I know that being dragons would change our personality somewhat, I feel the 'Core' of who we are remains largely intact. As such, I cannot see you, even Red Dragon you, ever doing anything harmful.Crossroads, you flatter me. While I will have Nitram to reign me in, are you *sure* you want a Red Dragon as your spokesman? As for the Long Now I will take the time to research the originial before making a final decision.
As far as the "Long Now" society goes. I have already been a member for years after first learning about their plans to build a clock to last over 10,000 and still keep proper time. Aside from espousing a philosophy that would have to become our way of seeing the world, they arn't your normal average pie in the sky hippies. They have some serious hard core backers and are currently in works on carving out the hearts of not one but Two mountains (one in Nevada one in Texas) for purposes of building monument sized versions of their 10,000 year clocks. They also have some rather hardcore backers. Scientists, Professors, and leaders of other foundations and charity groups.
Praying is another way of doing nothing helpful

The Bear as a Copper Dragon?!?
Okay, I'm warning him right now, if I wake up and my house is filled with tapoica pudding and marshmellows (or something similiar), I'm turning him into a nice matching set of luggage. After I find out how he took down the Forcecage and Dimensional Anchor field, and whatever Epic level wards I toss up. (Mythals aren't that hard to weave, after all).
However, should this happen to Government officials, I shall not only praise him, but help him transport the needed materials.

I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.
It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

... score, free upgrade to Adult, and all at the cost of having a few demons in my demi-plane.Forgothrax wrote:OmegaChief wrote:Oh great and powerful GM/Q, I don't suppose I could get an answer for my proposal? :O

Well, I'd like to put the following proposal to Q, I would like to barter upgrading my cave (Though just the cave, the actual contents remain the same) to one of those lovley Demi-planes, for the price of one hundred years of "Interesting Times" as defined by Q, how does that sound?![]()
*puts on Q-Hat*
Q smirks. "Why, my dear sir!" He cries in clear. "A hundred years is unnecessary, for the purpose of your request a much shorter timeframe shalt do." He snaps his fingers and then touches your brow. "One demi-plane and ability to access it, as well as an upgrade to Adult for your trouble." He winks at you and starts to walk away. Over his shoulder he says, "Oh, I hope you don't mind the decorating, but look at it this way-- few dragons have their own personal chunk of the Abyss. I'll let the Balors know you're coming."
Hey guys, does anyone want some target practice? I don't think any of our laws have anything against killing these guys
