A bit early for a Cleveland-lookalike

Rate of fire and number of guns is important in the Tuscan Navy. I partly complensate that with heavier shells than springsharp offers, following the Austro-Hungarian guns concept; their 35 cm guns fired shells about the weight of the german 38cm (700 kg vs 750kg).

My line of thought is more towards the RN Town-class, ending with Edinburgh/Belfast as orgininally envisaged, with 4 quad turrets.
Or maybe five quad turrets in a Brooklyn-layout...

Don't know why I had 75 000 ts in mind, I'll fiddle with the design to get it within the permitted 70k limit.

To be more precise, that design is a mistake. 16 420mm guns are not preferable to 10-12 18" guns IMHO.

Hi, I'm Raesene and I'm in love with quadruple turrets on battleships

However, as I have to lose about 5000 ts Executor is likely to transform into a 12x45cm gun ship with 4x3 or 3x4 arrangement. But I'll have a look at the 4-2-2-4 disposition too - just to strike all onlookers blind with the, erm, unconventional look .

Well, one thing I have realised, a 12 gun ship has serious problems with recoil, for some odd reason or another. Any of the 12 18"/45 gun designs have me hitting pver 70KTonnes. 12 16"/50 designs are possible, assuming I follow something close to Montana's armor layout with 16" belt thereabout and 6" deck.

Dude, that is a bona-fide battlecruiser (to the standards of 1914). Why waste so much money on it?

It's meant to do the original work of Battlecruisers in Fisher's mindset (kill enemy cruisers) with the added bonus of being more than sufficient to make scrap out of the AMCs and raiders of the Shepistani and Dominion navies (including the very offensive-orientated ability to chase them down).

The problem with the design, honestly, is SpringSharp's limitations. Such a design would feasibly have a specially-formed hull to reduce water drag and possibly use lighter-weight higher-performance engines, but SpringSharp has no option to allow either design choices, so the engines are always max weight, the hullforms are standard to non-speed-optimized vessels, and I have no idea of proper calculations to change either. I imagine that feasibly such a ship should only be 32,000T Standard at most, particularly with armor trimmed further, making them cheaper and more worth the cost.

Nor am I decided on building more CBs, it's just a possibility.
