Obama is not providing Poland with protection, thus he is throwing Poland out of his symbol of Hope.

Crossroads, I am extremely curious how you got "Obama invades Poland" out of that political Cartoon.

Nah. It's an umbrella with a bit missing where Poland is standing.

The betrayal of Poland packs a bigger punch because it happened 70 years to the day after the USSR invaded. That and the Polish population in the US is bigger than the Czech one (not that he Czech one is small). In fact this makes the betrayal even more quizzical as the City with the third largest ethnically Polish population (after Warsaw, and London) is Chicago.

And the betrayal of Czechoslovakia what, didn't happen 70 years ago? :D

Of course, the entire things is a red herring (since we're still getting SAMs and US soldiers stationed on our soil...), but it honestly puzzled me: why should Poland feel "betrayed", and not the Czechs? :D

Not that either population wanted the shield, anyway...

Maybe Czechoslovakia has a funnier-sounding name which makes them less sympathetic to an American audience? How can you be expected to feel sorry for someone if you can't even pronounce their country's name?

Czech Republic still sounds weirder and more foreign than Poland.

Not so much a terrible cartoon in terms of topic (in fact quite good in that regard), but Nicholson's style just drives me nuts.

That horse is ridden by Rudd, so I doubt it's about Obama at all.

Yeah it looks Aussie. The joke is probably that by the time Rudd came with his stimulus bill stuff, the reccesion had already ended/had ended by the time he actually went to do something about it. Plus I rarely here the phrase "carked" from Americans.

There are more Polish Americans than Czech Americans.
Turns out that a five way cross over between It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Ali G Show, Fargo, Idiocracy and Veep is a lot less funny when you're actually living in it.

That's it exactly - the data came out showing that the turnaround was beginning before the stimulus packages were done. Which Rudd of course denies.

As an ardent Labor voter on the basis that the Liberal Party are Conservative Fuckheads, I must point out that the OECD has come out and said that Australia's stimulus was quite beneficial.

I don't doubt it, the stimulus certainly saved a lot of the retail and services sector, but the primary and secondary industries were already turning. Not that anyone in Australian domestic politics had anything to do with that of course.

Do I need to tell you the snorts of derision Happy Liberals give when anyone mentions that? :)
