Nope. They imploded under the weight of their pension and healthcare liabilities, which incidentally is exactly the reason they built those "civilian APCs" in the first place (among the last type of vehicles they could reliably sell at a profit). If they hadn't, they'd have gone bankrupt at least a decade ago. Ford only escaped the fate of GM and Chrysler by basically re-mortgaging all their assets to build a huge pile of cash before the crisis hit. I'd be surprised if they can stay off the public dole forever though, especially given that they'll have to compete with a GM and Chrysler that are now backed by government capital and will have had their debts and liabilities erased. If anyone can pull it off though, it'd be Mulally, arguably the best CEO in the entire auto industry at the moment.

The amusing thing is that sales don't even reflect that attitude. You can't give away the big trucks these days, and small cars are going at a premium.

That might have been so last year, but not anymore, given that the Ford F-series and Chevy Silverado pickups are once again the best-selling vehicles in the US market, as they had been before, and since the end of last year's gas price spike. People aren't shunning big vehicles these days so much as much as expensive ones, and it just so happens those pickups are both big and relatively inexpensive. Their large commercial/work vehicle customer base doesn't hurt either, though a big chink of their sales are still personal vehicles, moreso since many more people have been priced out of the market for their much pricier SUV counterparts.

No, you should be considering what credible evidence there is that they are building nuclear weapons. The obvious answer is what they admit to doing, i.e. pursuing a civilian nuclear program, as is their right.

The idea that you don't need silos unless you're pursuing nukes is just bullshit - you can deploy conventional missiles in silos, just like you can deploy nuclear missiles on TELs, and this is apparently what Iran is doing.

The whole lipstick on the pig is a saying about cosmetic change to a very ugly situation or thing. Personally, the cartoon is trying to make a low blow but is failing completely because it's not showing what the bad situation is, and is implying Obama is a cosmetic change to something ugly, or he himself is trying to cover something up.
