Somehow the Browns still got two primetime games. I'm surprised.

Although even with an "easy" schedule I don't have enough faith in Mangini to give us a winning season. Damn. :finger:

Farewell, John Madden. I grew up listening to this man call games. When I was young, the Giants sucked (this was when he was still on FOX), so I knew it was a big game if John was calling them. He got a little silly in his later years, but he was never overly self-important or obnoxious like some of the people in the booth. I laugh whenever he gets off the Madden Bus in Little Giants. Now he's retired. He was a helluva a coach, and a pretty good announcer, too.

Happy Trails, Mr. Madden.

Fucking Madden. :D Man you have to love that guy. I'm going to miss those "BOOMS!" on his replays. Collinsworth is certainly a worthy replacement.

Amen to this. I think it's from too many hours playing his namesake game and hearing the same things over and over.

Anyways, I hope he does well, and it's a significant loss to broadcasting.

Jason Peters was just traded to Philadelphia for a first round, fourth round, and late 2010 draft pick on the condition that the Eagles give Peters a new contract.

Yeah, pretty much. It's a nice lttle success story and all, but that guy's head ballooned up faster than his production did. Maybe the new contract and change of scenery will help all those problems, but I think they overpaid for him.

I'm not overly concerned out Peters's lack of production last year, since he held out of training camp and was therefore radically out of shape. That he held out of training camp at all is much more disconcerting.

The Detroit Lions got a slightly new look to go with their attempt to claw back out of the League cellar.

Peters gave up more sacks last year than any left tackle in the league (11.5)

The new Lions unis look pretty much like the old ones. The only major difference is the numeral font.

The lion looks slightly more detailed, too. At any rate, seeing as the uniforms are among the few things about the Lions that don't suck, the less they change, the better.

As was said before, he thinks he's the Second Coming of Orlando Pace. I watched his ass give up 4.5 Sacks and 2 FF to Joey Porter in pure 1v1 Matchups. It wasn't all the horribly-overpaid-now-departed Derrick Dockery's fault, but we keep finding in Buffalo that Marv made his fair share of mistakes during the "Rebuilding" process.

It's not like he opens a huge hole either. 6'8" 366 lb Langston "The Gentle Giant" Walker was quite solid at RT, and is serviceable at LT, as he's proved. If he's taking the job full time though, he'd have to drop some weight. But he's also quite happy with the team and his place on it. We'd be in the market for a RT then, and possibly a LG. I wouldn't want to break up the Right Side though, as its stronger at run blocking than our left (which was the exact opposite of what was supposed to happen).

Peters was a tool, and I'm glad he's Philly's problem. Now they can shell out the 11 mil+ a year he thinks he deserves.
Many thanks! These darned computers always screw me up. I calculated my first death-toll using a hand-cranked adding machine (we actually calculated the average mortality in each city block individually). Ah, those were the days.

Even with the trade, my glorious mock draft remains unchanged, except that the Bills will most likely grab Eben Britton -a logical choice.

Another uniform change, this one for Jacksonville, and in my opinion it's weaker than the original.

If I were Jacksonville, I'd worry less about the jerseys, and more about the number of seats I cover with Tarps during a home game, or how my "Home Game" sounded more like The Ralph the last time the Bills played there.

Russ Brandon has said that the Bills are "Fine" with Langston Walker at LT and Demetrius Bell, angry bastard child of Karl Malone, at RT.

Detroit just finished a contract with Matthew Stafford, who will be drafted first overall tomorrow.

Not exactly a bombshell, but it does get rid of the small amount of uncertainty there was. Anyone have any predictions for their team?

I'm picking:
1. Detroit: Stafford
2. St. Louis: Jason Smith, OT
3. Kansas City: Aaron Curry, LB
4. Seattle: Sanchez, QB
5. Cleveland: Orakpo, LB

With fingers crossed on that last one... We need defensive help, bad. Crabtree would be nice, but reciever is what I've heard called a luxury pick, and defense is a must. I'm also hoping we can keep Braylon Edwards long term, but I don't think that will happen.

Most everyone has the Eagles targeting Moreno, but I wouldn't be surprised if they address another position first.

Mel Kiper has the Browns taking Sanchez... that guy is a fucking idiot.

I don't think Seattle is going to take Sanchez. The Seahawks have it fresh in their mind what it is to go through the season with no receivers. Although. taking a receiver that is currently injured in Crabtree, may not exactly appeal to them.

Holy... Denver took a running back. Not just that Denver has never taken a high RB, but fuck, did they need some defensive help.
