Since 10% is added to the cost for pure profit, and that should be divided evenly, correct? So that should be 225 million divded by 7, which nets 32 million and some change per ISCA member. Is my math right, given current orders?
Given current orders yes - your math is correct.

But we have a lot of excess capacity ; Especially after I realized you're a Tsardom and upped your capacity to 500 thousand DWT yearly. So there's still more room for ship orders - get selling, guys!
I would propose, if my understanding is correct, that we'd round to the nearest million, and the rest can be placed into the R&D budget. What does everyone else think?
So you suggest, basically, that shipbuilding profits go to ISCA members as dividend, while member contributions are to be used for R&D?

That's fine by me, but I'd like to see what other members think of this plan. I've updated the budget with ISCA dividens.

You're getting technical on me now. :P

Basically it's this, given current orders and membership:
225 million/7 members = 32.14285blahblahblah million/member

Rather than try to figure out how far out the decimal goes, we just shunt that into R&D (rather than the full budget, since it's usually going to be less than 1 million anyway) and give everyone 32 million even.

So it goes as such:
32 million to each member
.14285blahblahblah million to the R&D section of the budget.

Which would be just shy of 1 million (by the Windows Calculator) into the R&D budget when you multiply the remainder by 7. Specifically, 0.999999999999999999999999999999 million. If we want to be like real government agencies, I guess someone can toss in a really teeny-tiny fraction of a buck to tip it over. :D

If that's what you said above, cool. If not, now you know. :)

Sweet. If we are indeed on the same page, we've got 2/7 for this. By my count we'd need 5/7 for it to officially pass, though the more the merrier of course.

Given my extra DWT capacity, I'm tentetively announcing that I'd be interested in building one Mercy-class Hospital Ship.

Displacement: 69,360 tons (70,470 t)
Length: 894 ft (272 m)
Beam: 105 ft 7 in (32.2 m)

How would this, assuming I start construction, affect my remaining shipbuilding capacity?

I have no idea how much it costs, though. Anyone have any clue?

Well, now I know!

I've updated the budget - every ISCA member gets 32 million of dividends, and the rest of the budget goes into R&D for the year.

There'll be something left for beer and chips for the interns, too ;)

If this concept passes, then I'll assume the budget is accepted by ISCA. However, one more major thing is necessary: we have 237 thousand DWT spare capacity left, so if any more orders come about, where should we distribute the extra profits? Dividend, more R&D into the NPS or maybe investment in somebody's shipyards?

It has 70 thousand tonne displacement...damn, I should've measured our capacity by discplacement rather than DWT :P

But in this case, I think we can just assume displacement = DWT for construction purposes, since it's a hospital ship and not a freighter, so it won't be configured the same way.

As for cost...no idea. It's a specialized ship, so gut feeling tells me...50 million? May very well be much, much more.

Well that's why it's a general thing. We get more profits, divide that by 7. Numbers to the left of the decimal go to us, each. Numbers to the right get multiplied by 7 and into the R&D budget. I used the numbers above as an example, but the proposal itself was for general use.

If that means a revote is needed, then you got 1/7 now.

It would seem that, with the profits going out, the ISCA is only breaking even so far?

Well, since I'm spending $23 million on ship orders, and I'll get $32 million back from profits, that means I'm making $9 million from the ISCA. A pretty penny to be sure. However, since I'm reasonably sure I'm nowhere near the total $350 billion upper spending limit as outlined by Stas (even with my military) I think I can afford to have the amount of money I'm putting into the ISCA be an even $1 billion overall.

Thus, I'm donating $77 million to the ISCA. Which means that, in my transactions concerning the ISCA alone, I will have spent $68 million.

Yeah, my economy can handle that. So PeZook, you can add another 0.077 to the Income Bracket under my name. :D

Ah. Well, I'm game - 2/7. We shall split the profits from ship orders seven ways, round to the nearest million. The rest, along with member contributions, go into R&D.

BTW, I found some more info on the Mercy-class. They're converted 100 thousand DWT tankers. A fully equipped tanker of that size costs about 80 mil. I think the equipment, beds and a staggering 1500 medical personnel could easily go for 20-30 million more. Let's assume 120 million, since we probably need to do some design work first.

If you want it, I'll write it into your orders - this will be an awesome addition to the world's fleets!

We could work it two ways: we give them the hull and they equip it themselves, or we give them a Hospital Ship fully decked out. Minus medical personnel, which obviously comes from them.

Which means, if I were to build such a ship, I would have...40 DWT left over?

I just noticed something. Since I'm supposed to be building At Cost, doesn't that mean the profit margin should be 0 for my 10? And, for that matter, Shroomania (or at least partially since he's doing a split-order, though I can't see the numbers there)?

Being a generous soul, since I'm building At Cost and don't want to deal with delivery issues, I'll donate an extra $20 million (for a total of .097 in the spreadsheet) to cover it, because it is our first year and all.

Actually, screw it, I'll add another $8 million to match the Duchy of Langley. So a total input of $150 million from the Shinra Republic for FY09.

The Hospital Ship construction order will also be added. One Standard Hospital Ship (SHS - stats of the Mercy class if you want to add it in the ISCA entry) in my docks.

Aw, damn. You're right!

We can handle it by including "profit returns to domestic builders" in the expenses section, so as not to clutter up the orders section.

I'll put the 10% as payback into people's coffers, and break it down by country.

As for your spending: you've ordered 3 ACVs and 10 FCS, right?

In that case, you're spending 230 million, not 23.

As for the hospital ship: I added it as a test, and we've still got 137 thousand DWT remaining capacity. Pretty cool, huh?

Ok I had to include a giant squid just because I love 20,000 leagues. Just to make it fun I gave it enough bio-electricity to fry the main electronics on a small frieghter.

the other creature, the reptile/amphibian is a much more ghost in the darkness, devil in the dark kind of menace to the rescue operations. Basically it likes it's prey decomposing, it's venom causes rapid necrosis and fever. Oh and the one that was killed was a male, the females are setting up larders for when the eggs hatch.

Also, for those interested, there is the smaller Mercy Ship M/V Africa Mercy-type as well. I would propose this can be added as a Light Hospital Ship (LHS).

also naming rights to the two creatures, can't come up with good names, besides giant squid thing, and basically lizard thing.

"Elise Day" came from a Nick Cave song, and "Dawn Lewis" is a contraction of two women I used to know. Also there is a giant squid corpse inland on the bear republic. kinda got stuck in the middle of a farm field when the water withdrew.

NOTE: Listed complement of Wards is Standard Configuration only. Complement of wards may vary within limit of Maximum Bed Capacity

((OOC: I have no idea what the speed for the LHS is. Neither Wiki nor the PDF say.))

NOTE: I don't know how much the LHS cost, but it was a £30 million refit from the existing Dronning Ingrid (Queen Ingrid) rail ferry from Denmark.

Sweet. If we are indeed on the same page, we've got 2/7 for this. By my count we'd need 5/7 for it to officially pass, though the more the merrier of course.[/quote]

5/7.
Conversion Table:

2000 Mockingbirds = 2 Kilomockingbirds
Basic Unit of Laryngitis = 1 Hoarsepower
453.6 Graham Crackers = 1 Pound Cake
1 Kilogram of Falling Figs - 1 Fig Newton
Time Between Slipping on a Banana Peel and Smacking the Pavement = 1 Bananosecond
Half of a Large Intestine = 1 Semicolon
