Potential bomb threat at City Hall

Police have evacuated City Hall and closed down streets around the building because of a possible bomb threat.

The incident began around 4 p.m. on Saturday.

A man was seen sitting outside council chambers.

Police received a phone call regarding an armed man in the building.

Police confirm the man is armed with a gun, and they believe he has explosives.

The TAC squad and a negotiator are on the scene.

Police evacuated the building, and have advised the CTrain not to stop at City Hall.

A health clinic in the area has also been evacuated.

A negotiator has been called in.

Har de har. I've spent most of my life living hundreds of kilometers north of Calgary, and I've never encountered a spring where the worst threat to my comfort wasn't more than persistent rain.

Kind of like this year.

At least they've already evacuated the buildings, so the worst thing we have to worry about now is property damage.
