I'm now officially a rocket scientist.

Woman at the bar: "So, besides looking good what do you do for a job then?"

Answer: "I'm not allowed to tell you exactly, but it involves rocket science.

Don't try that on Shania Twain because it doesn't impress her much.

If it's any consolation, she still thinks you're alright.

That's not a rocket, you doofus, that's an aeroplaney with a candle underneath for some reason or other. Some "rocket scientist" you... do you even have a volcano lair?

Actually that's a really cool job.

Congratulations. I was always keener on automotive myself, but then I discovered (too late) that 99% of the people who work in the automotive industry do really boring shit. Oh well.

Thanks, Mike! What do you know, the Mech. Engineering diploma actually had its use in the end, I was beginning to wonder. They won't have hired me otherwise, my PhD is in non-linear optimization but they required a Mechanical Eng. background, mainly because of the thermodynamics courses we have.

Edit: I'm moving the thread to OT mainly because I can and to avoid more of tim31's type of spam

I am very excited about this, by the way :D

Cool. That looks like an AMRAAM except for the thing underneath. Is that some kind of ramjet for extended range?

Yeah. The thing underneath is the air duct.

To make your co-workers uncomfortable, you need to keep a 'kill sheet' recording how many people missiles, rockets and other explosive munitions you have had a hand in the development of have killed. You can proudly refer to your kill count during office functions, and maybe you might get someone chucking up their dinner at the cheery way you present it.

More seriously, congratulations on pulling in this job. Every day probably won't be a wild adventure of awesome, but at the end of the day you're still a rocket scientist. :)

Always thought the font sucked on it. And the flames coming out of the missile are just unnecessary.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to a fellow Ex-UT member! Never knew there was much rocket science going on, but that just shows how much I knew!

I always envisioned rocket scientists from Tennessee strapping wings to a 1976 Dodge Dart and fueling it with moonshine. While incredibly entertaining, I would hardly call it rocket science. :P

btw Where the fuck have you been?
