Lord Monckton gets owned

Post by mr friendly guy »

Lord Monckton is a climate change denier, er sorry I mean sceptic (although I doubt deniers actually know scepticism means) who once visited Australia. Notre Dame university gave him a forum to speak (and as such cheapen its academic rigor). He is clearly a humanitarian who thinks AIDS sufferers "should be isolated compulsorily, immediately, and permanently", after of course testing every member of the population in three month intervals. He also has magical health products which among other things cure Graves' Disease, multiple sclerosis, influenza. *He has also spat the dummy when an Australian journalist asked to verify his credentials that he was a "Nobel Laureate" which turns out Monckton was just "joking". Yes I suppose misrepresenting yourself as something you are not, is a bit of a joke. This we will sadly find out is a characteristic of Monckton, starting with the fact he is not even a Lord.

Yes he isn't even a lord, with the house of lords writing a cease and desist letter to him.

Science reporter Peter Hadfield dismembered Monckton's arguments on youtube which I will link for people's convenience.

Monckton's response or lack of it here

Hadfield has this further to say about Monckton's attempt at debating which mainly was desperate back tracking, henceforth known as the Monckton manouvre

Monckton of course agreed to debate and said will continue when he got back from his tour down under. That was some time ago. However he still hasn't return to the debate, and recently Hadfield called him out in the following video asking him back into the debate.

It however appears Monckton has chicken out.

* on a side note, google images for exophthalmos which is a classical feature of graves disease (ie the bulging of the eye from the orbit). A good rule of thumb for this feature is that the sclera (whites of the eyes) are visible left to right, but not top to bottom (in the middle of the eye) unless someone opens their eyes really wide. A person with exopthalmos has this feature without needing to open their eyes wide. Look at Christopher Moncktons face and you can see the same exophthalmus with his eyes. Yes before we nitpick, conventional medicine can't do anything about the exophthalmos even though other symptoms of graves are under control, but I find this amusing considering Monckton cured his own grave's disease with his magical products.

He is truthfully a lord, in that he is a hereditary peer, and can therefore legitimately be referred to as 'Lord Monckton' and addressed as 'my lord'. His false claim, that prompted the letter, is that he is a member of the House of Lords, which is now true only for 92 hereditary peers (90 elected by other peers of the same political party or grouping and 2 who are hereditary Great Officers of State).

Also, and I"m not saying the OP said this, being a Climate Change denier is not the same or worse as being a Holocaust denier, as some people are saying.

I imagine the change rankles with him, since he missed out on sitting in the HoL by just a couple of years. But he does seem to exploit the confusion the whole thing causes when dealing with foreign governments.

Isn't confusing foreign governments generally a GOOD thing? :)

I always thought that was sarcasm. It is, isn't it?

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

Not when it brings your home country's government into disrepute.
There are hardly any excesses of the most crazed psychopath that cannot easily be duplicated by a normal kindly family man who just comes in to work every day and has a job to do.

Replace "ginger" with "n*gger," and suddenly it become a lot less funny, doesn't it?

Touche. My mistake then. I will attack him next time on other titles he has given himself over the years.

They are however both idiots, who use the same ignore evidence tactic in favour of accusing the other side of conspiracy theories.
