Ignore please, I was going to put in a reminder about Uruguay and Paraguay but was beaten to the punch.

Paraguay is the landlocked nation. Uruguay has a coast, in fact its capital Montevideo is also its main port. :P
Bah! Thing is I kind of want a buffer zone against Argentina, if I'm to give up those three provinces at the very least I should only be bordering *one* other country. If on the other hand the Argentines (and to a lesser extent Spain) won't give up that land I would personally much rather have my buffer zone to protect from Argentina invasion.
 Do you think Brazil should be worrying about Argentina? Your population dwarfs mine and in the era of mass mobilization I'm the one who should be fearing you. True my economy is a bit stronger but the disparity isn't big enough to be decisive.

At the very least I don't want to be bordering *two* countries to the south, to be perfectly honest if you won't give up the land areas (Paraguay and the pan-handle) I think we'd be better off having Demetrios take Siam instead, that way we would have all plausible land areas covered by a PC. I really don't need the grief of having to worry about bordering an extra state, there's enough trouble with Argentina and Spain already.

BTW given the terrain we'd be fighting over I would be seriously surprised if I could make any read headway into Argentina, at least not before whatever allies you've found could come to your aid. I'm not so worried about Columbia since, well, they border an area of Brazil so remote and hard to get at that no one is doing anything.

Afraid I really can't give up Uruguay, it's my largest overseas territory. Need a toe-hold in South America, so, going to have to keep that one. As it is, I'm more afraid of you Brazilians than you probably should be of me, you're alot bigger than Uruguay in all respects after all.

Really? What are we supposed to do? Bleed on you?

EDIT: I have serious, serious doubts about handing over those provinces, there goes my entire buffer zone in case of war...

Okay that does it: If Argentina will not give up the panhandle or Paraguay then I'm keeping Parana! I need the buffer zone to stand between Lascaris and Sao Paulo. In fact I'd prefer to keep Parana even if Argentina gives up the panhandle, but I'm not entirely unreasonable. He would still have 377094 square kilometres which is enough for Land Area 3.

Well, I guess we're about on par in terms of military power (going by points), population aside, though I've got an ocean between Spain and Uruguay to cross if things go south and three other fair sized territories to defend and police. Also.. Communist subversion, Suuubveersion!

Very soon I think. I need to make sure everyone has their points finalized and then I need to go finalize things for the rules, like final determination for what Economy values show or for how industry level plays into things like building ships and aircraft or raising military divisions, effecting infrastructure improvements, etc.

Excellent.

I'm mostly concerned with Economy. Some things can be easily abstracted but it's good to have some quantification to work as a base.

Speaking of points can we get back into Britain points setup for my stated goal as we kind of got sidetracked on what colony possessions I was asking for.

So to repeat
Goal?:World's Largest and Best Navy. Economy based on trading. Primary Nation Objective:Keep the Sea Lanes open to British Goods. Retain what it has now.

Colonials (2)
Territories claimed
New Zealand
Newfoundland Island
Ghana
Gambia
Saint Helena
Diego Garcia

Minor Islands claimed
Aruba
Fiji
Howland Island
Christmas_Island

Hong Kong Style Cities controlled by Britain
Shenzhen Sub-Provence (China)
Pondicherry (India)
Sydney (Australia)
Gibraltar (City and Fort)
Bahrain (Middle East)
CapeTown (Naval Base only)

As per our long discussion about what was worth what I have two points spent on Colonies. If Steve holds to his earlier offer way back when that leaves me with 30 points to spend over several categories

Code: Select all

Population-
Home Territory-
Colonial Territory- 2
Industry-
Economy-
Infrastructure-
Standing Military Limit-
Naval Focus -
Army Focus-
Air Focus:
So what do those go towards to build the biggest and best fleet possible? Build and maintain the best fleet mind you at pretty much the expenses of the Army.

No. If you want a town, you can get Walvis Bay. What I had offered was the ability to have a British Naval Base in Capetown.

Bean, did you read what I posted?

Anyway:
Population: 3 (75 million, Britain and Ireland = 45, + the rest in remaining colonies or in Britain due to high exodus from former colonies)
Home Territory: 2
Colonial Territory: 2
Economy: 5
Infrastructure: 5
Industry: 5
Naval Focus: 2 (+3 Bonus due to industry) = 5
Standing military: 3
Army Focus: 1
Air Focus: 2
= 30 points.
If you want to, I can reduce the standing military to a two or one, that would gve you a few more things with air focus etc.

What does that give me in the way of standing Army, Standing Navy, Standing Airforce?

That will work as well. I'd prefer a Hong Kong but if it's just a joint base.

Oh and also Diego Garcia. Left that off my list. Must have my personal Indian Ocena playhouse

Standing Army: 200.000 men
Standing Airforce: 240 aircraft of all sizes and types.
Standing Navy: Largest Navy size allowed in the game. If current rules stay the same, total maximum capship tonnage 1.5 million standard tons. Think Grand Fleet during WWI. Note that Navy rules may yet be changed.

Okay, here's what will probably be the final map, all claims made and acknowledged. I'm not sure about Lascaris' border in comparison to Norse's though.

Image

The only exceptions to this being the final map is if I see people want the idea of "extra" land, in the form of non-real islands and such, so a few players can have a bit more colonial territory (and more defensible in some cases too - Sorchus, lookin' at you).

Fixed, MoP.

Also, I need to mess with Queensland, Beo is maintaining his claim IC on Queensland though Sorchus' colony there is being recognized as existing and so I need to make some nice looking strips to reflect the ownership is disputed IC. At the same time, Cascadia has constructed posts in the parts of Queensland west of the 141st Meridian and does not recognize Sudanese sovereignty in the area - actually we don't recognize it in Australia at all, but rather recognize Manchuria's claims to the region under the Treaty of Sydney.

This is actually one of the reasons I'm proposing "extra" land in the game. We can put an island in the South Atlantic and Sorchus here can claim that to fulfill his point needs for CT and it'll be easier for him to defend than Northeast Australia.
