Does anyone else work at a company where the week before christmas, nothing can be done because it is spent eating and fiddling with crap sent by vendors and cstomers? Jesus Jumpingjack Christ we have more fucking mixed nuts, chocolates, peanut brittle , eggnog, cookies and fruit baskets than a supermarket! Sure, a lot of it ends up going home with employees or to charity, but as soon as someone opens one package it's like feeding time at the pig farm!

Same here.

I have five variety of chocolates, nuts and we had someone bring in fucking FRUITCAKE!

Jeez...I mean I have a small platter at my desk when I go in which is nothing more then what I eat for the day.

Practically don't need lunch since food is apparently never ending(someone brings in a new Christmas goodie for the office each day or we get a clients's gift as well)

You're so lucky. I have an Oracle Datawarehouse need for tuning ("rebuilding from scratch" is more appropriate, since the fucking moron who built the crap on the first place just simply merge ALL hard drives into RAID 5 and put *everything* on it in a single USER tablespace, while putting all log groups into a single internal hard drive, not to mention defaulting temporary segments into SYSTEM tablespace  ), a 10g upgrade on an OLTP, and a disaster recovery database to build. ARGH!!

ha-ha! This is actually a slow time of the year for us. Manufacturing peaks long before Christmas. The last couple weeks of December we scale back production and quite a few people have very little to do. All of our customers are closed next week, only a few machines are running and i have no new projects starting up (No PPAP'S till January! hoo-ray!). To top it off all of our customers have already issued their Vendor Performance Reports and we did quite well. So here i sit at my computer drinking coffee and eating bosc pears. :P

There are funeral homes who send tins of butter cookies, and Christmas Baskets filled with candy and cookies, summer sausage and cheese.

There are the packages brought in by the ladies, cookies and fudge and boxes of candy.

There was the snack-fest last Friday, where we had cheeseballs and crackers, lil'smokies and salads of various types, and even more candy and cookies.

There's the Xmas Dinner today. with five types of cold salads, ham, greenbeans, cornbread pudding, scalloped potatos, a veggie tray, two casseroles, deviled eggs, rolls, and two types of dip. Not to forget the candy and cookies for desert.

And they wonder why we put on weight this time of year... *sigh*

Since I work nights there is only one pharmacist and two technicians to cover the ~400 patients that the hospital has so usually we don't have time for any serious screwing around or eating.

There's usually left over food around from the other two shifts. Plus they've been decorating the crap out of the pharmacy, mostly with paper snowflakes.

I added two "snowflakes" of my own when I found the time. A pentagram and an anarchy symbol.

We've had a couple of slower days since Thanksgiving but so far we haven't had any real dead days. If we're lucky it'll be pretty slow between Christmas and New Years but I wouldn't count on. Too many old really unhealthy people move/live here and the rest crank out babbies left and right.

Retail: None of the above.

Had a longtime customer bring me a few...I don't think there's a noun for what she brought, but whatever they were, they were good. And that's it. Ah well, the last thing I need is more for my lazy ass to eat :)
