IIRC, a spatula is used to give PAP smears to women. Possibly not your average kitchen spatula though.

Yes, speculum is used to open the pussy up, but they still need something to scrape cervical cells for testing. I'm pretty sure that scraper is called a spatula as well. Any ladies care to confirm/refute?
