I went to Babbages and bout a four pack of Star Wars games for $20. Not bad considering I paid 45 for the original Armada. Any links to reliable mods would be great.

I remember that pack, had Elite Force in it too didn't it?
I got my $40 worth out of it. (Australian money, worth nothing)

Been using ST v SW mods for the first Armada, and my wife is pissed off at me for the amount of time I spend on that game. Not bad for ten bucks...

Ah, the SW mod for Armada 1. I need to reinstall that.
Funny thing, the most ass-kicking weapons the Empire has in it are TIE bombers, in my opinion. Quick to build, outrange all the trek ships, and their torps do good damage for something so cheap. A couple of Star Destroyers and a large swarm of TIE bombers rock everything.

Do you remember where you got the mod?

What's nice about the Armada mod is that it actually improves the game drastically, even for the remaining two Trek sides. I think normally they can build maybe six different types of ships. With the mod, it's probably in the twenties.
It's not without flaws. (I know the Executor-class is already unrealisitically small, but it's still too damned big to handle.) Still, it's damned fun, and drastically improves the game overall.

I have played it. It is very awesome but everytime one large capital ship or several small capital ships fires its turbolasers the game slowes down a lot and it became so annoying so I stopped playing it.

Must be your computer. I've had some epic battles without incident. Only problem is that if you set up a game with 8 sides, they'll churn out so many ships that the game engine (which was designed with skirmishes between a couple dozen ships in mind) will just scream and fall over dead.
I remember one game I played as the Empire against a Federation/Klingon alliance... By the end, there were THOUSANDS of ships destroyed on each side. I lost fewer, and the vast majority of them were TIEs, but still.

I have armada II but in mods only played SW: Fleet command, a kickass mod and there is nothing like attacking a rebel base with a Executor on 1 side and a Sovereign on the other.
I never played SW vs ST for armada I is it worth it? Do the Empire have the most powerfull ships?

Well the game where all those ships were lost was a really damned long one. I set all of the dilithium moons to infinite, and spent a lot of time on defense while the Federation and Klingons teamed up to beat on me. They'd rush face-first into my fixed defenses while I swarmed them with TIEs. I lost a ton of fighters overall, but never had that many around at one time.
Anyway, here's the power breakdown:
Most of the smaller Trek ships are dogmeat for an ISD. The Enterprise will hold it's own with one for a while, but will eventually go down without backup. The Feds and Klingons each have a non-canon dreadnaught that can defeat an ISD one-on-one, but everything gets it's ass kicked by an Executor. The Rebels have slightly worse capships than the Imps, and no equivalent to the Executor, but they do have awesome fighters. A swarm of A-Wings firing their magpulse guns can leave any single ship in the game with it's weapons disabled, making even that Executor into just a big target. Unless you escort it with fighters of it's own, to help keep the A-Wings distracted. Star Wars ships are slower than Trek ships when moving normally, but SW ships can use their hyperdrives to travel huge distances instantly. The SW sides also have a range advantage over the Trek sides, which is extremely handy. On the other hand, Trek ships are quicker and cheaper to build.
