I just found my old copy of Diablo 2, Lord of Destruction, and I am pumped!

Any SD netters want to play? I've got a level 15 Assassin, Eketrina, on USeast, in Lut Gholein.

It got boring after I beat the expansion on Hell difficulty, and realized that by having morals and not hacking to have 10000^100 Stones of Jorden, I could never trade for anything good, thereby making my quest to get the best items possible for my character impossible.

I'll say this though: It was one hell of a ride, and I got my moneys worth out of it. My late, great lvl 89 Paladin Mr.Batou agrees.

Highest I've got is a level 40-something Sorc. Might play, though I'd be more encouraged if they balanced the classes more.

My lvl 99 MF-sorcy hordes laugh at you.

What they really fucked up on was making nightmare and hell the same cups of tea...after you've fought all the way through on normal...what's the incentive?...suuuuure...kill big red for the fifteenth time...that's not exactly going to float my boat.

Used to...but after making my Sorc into demigoddess of Doom, sorta got boring with no real goals in sight.

I love my lvl 60 something assassin. She could kill Diablo in nightmare solo, when she was only level 40...

My highes level char was a lvl70 firewall sorc. After being taunted for how shitty my items were, I gave up on it again. Recently I had a lot of fun with a Blood Golem/Iron Maiden Necro though, he's lvl 30.

If you want cheap but powerful, Burizons are good. 2 sojs will get you a Buriza, and then you probably want some life and mana leech, also fairly cheap to get. Then go MF in Act 3 NM against Mephisto. Also, shop in act 5 at Anya's for some nice MF boots. All it will cost is gold, and that's rediculiously easy to come by.

Too many Amazons in general, I try to do the styles not used. Once my friend moves out of CPS and back with her mom and internet connection(she loves diablo 2, but never played it online, or much in general) I'm gonna do a two-handed throwing barb.

Well... my Burizon is just for MF. She finances/finds my equipment for the rest of my characters, like my trapsin, my barbs (one of them is a mace frenzy barb) my bow wielding paladin, and my attempts at sorcs...

Sorcs were, are, and will continue to be the wussy mans character. Playing my paladin took fucking GUTS, considering that he was melee based, and that I didn't have the ability to trade for godly items, therefore relying on coming up with item combinations myself. Not to mention that the whole LoD expansion was made specifically to piss off melee players.

On Hell difficulty, you didn't play Diablo 2. You survived it. And damned if that isn't what I did. I was a freaking tank, wearing items people had never heard of.

Last time I played, I had a lvl 68 Paladin. SoJ-trading, Character subclasses built around Unique weapons, and all that crap can go jump up my ass for turning the game into a NetRat nest. :P

I agree with DarkPrimus, I worked my butt off to solo my Paladin to where I got; I just took his advice of the Conviction arua + Vengance, and stuck with 2-handed weapons. I used the Unique Maul for a while, and later I aquired and stuck with Silks of the Victor (the guy only traded it 'cause nobody gives a shit about normal uniques), and the Cloudcrack Gothic Sword. Wasn't the best character, but he could haul his own ass, at least.

Weredruid kicks ass. Level 91 ya foos. Sure I had to leech off cow runs from about 85 on in, but its all in good fun. I had a Grandfather with an Ohm rune in it, and I still couldn't do Hell cows on my life. Curse you cows! Getting vengeance for D1, I suppose.

My two favorite items from my late Paladin:

A Grizwolds Heart (armor) I had gotten for free (!), with 2 Somethingorother runes which made the total defense on the sucker almost 1500.

A 4 socket Round Shield (or whatever that Pally-exclusive shield is called) with a built in +40% resist all. I slapped in four Perfect Diamonds, and I had a shield that gave me over +300% resist all. It was nice to have people drool over it when I showed them my stuff, and it always made me laugh nastilly when a silly Sorc tried to PK me using lightning or fire.

Piss off melee players?

Other characters may be harder to play with but I am addicted to item hunting and sorcs are the best MFers, perioid.

And I have other character builds. They just rarely reach 90+ levels.

I stilll had fun with it. A challange makes it more exciting. Plus, it was nice to be able to kill Shenk in two hits on Hell difficulty.

I wonder why the fundamentalists weren't more outraged about that game than some of the other things they've been pissed about. Why isn't that seen in the same light as, say, Harry Potter (criticized for its use of magic, and the occult), or Dungeons and Dragons (similarly chastised for its alleged occult connections.
