The big question is... how will the world in general react to the "evil" cloning..

Don't know. Though the mercenary part of me demands that clones be used for spare parts while the moral side of me decries that idea.

I don't understand why so many people are so afraid of cloning. I mean, they might be holding a back a technology which could be the key to eternal life!!

My mother, for example, seems to think that cloning will lead to people making clones of each other.

Not even the Kaminoans do that.

Problem is, as sirnitram pointed out, their ruching forward to cross a boundary without the relevant technologyies or a ucrrent use fior them.

Clones of animals being produced are riddled with geentic deseases -look at poor Dolly. This poor baby is NOT going top be a normally healthy kid, let alone its mental problems associated with the current social atmosphere.

The first test-tube baby's identity was kept confidential for the first 9 year, IIRC.

Unfortunatly I have fear that you may be right, I've gotten into some pretty heated debates with christians about cloning, and if a number of christians are only even half as passionate as those I argued with about anti-cloning sentiment, then that child will be labeled Anti-Christ faster than a bat outta hell.

As for the fundies crying Antichrist, just point out that Jesus was the result of artifical insemination...that'll throw a speed bump in their little rant...

Personally I believe in the invention and use of most forms of new technology as a way to further better mankind. However I fear that cloning may be for the rich only, the poor will have to suffer as usual...
