Whats this? A StarTrek Warship!?

Post by Crossroads Inc. »

Oh, up untill today, I had never heard of this thing.. But evidently the following Fan Creation is the COOLEST Trek ship I have Ever seen!
The SS Typhon Carrier Is a modular Fortress class Carrier that looks as if it can kick serious ass! ((for a Trek ship)) plus it's not some God awful kitbash, it's New! Fresh! Different! It certainly takes the cake as the most advanced Fan Ship I have ever seen. Thoughts?

Looks like a homeworld heavy cruiser to be honest, looks nice, but a little too homeworld from front and back. And you have to wonder how much space would be wasted by having a retractable mode on it, why not just invest in a heavier shield grid or armour the damn thing as much as possible.

The sovereign deployment thing also seems like a crap idea, it might make it able to go faster, but then why bother putting nacelles on it in the first place if it's going to be totally dependent on another ship to get it to the battlefield on time before everyone gives up and goes home for dinner?

Looks pretty though.

From what I've read, the Sovereign deployment is for emergancy situations, to get into a Battlefield fast. Otherwise it's just fine on its own.

Also it seems it's "Transformation" thing doesn't wast much space as much of it appears to be really heavy armour that tightens up, that pulls back to open up all it's weapon systems.

Now, now, we can't have them calling it a cloaking device. That would make it a violation of the Treaty of Algeron. :)

I think that's more like the holographic camo from Starfleet Armada II and Starfleet Command III that the Federation had developed. (instead of hiding your ship from view, it makes your ship look like whatever you want it to.)

Looks rather nice, a good solid battleship feel to it. But the idea to compress the ship is stupid, you gain nothing but lose plenty - like Prometheus moronic MVAM. Retracting the nacelles into armored slots during combat is perhaps a good idea and being able to retract the flight deck perhaps also but that is the limit. He have seen to much transformers or something.

It's pretty nice looking. But isn't that just a slight mod on a Zentradi ship from Robotech?

For a carrier it uses extremely little space for hangars I'd say. Visually rather appealing, though. The fortress mode is terminally stupid.

Affirmative. The Incursion the creator refers to is from the computer game 'Star Trek Away Team' where the ship had a system thad did exactly that.

It's an Avatar with a Mimic system.
With some mysterious blue 'warp' engine-things. They should have left the Hyperspace core in, that'd give it a decent FTL speed.

I don't think it's an Avatar. Someone care to post a pic for comparison purposes?

And, while I think the aesthetics are quite nice, it's quite the fanwank ship inside. Bleh. Can't a carrier just be a carrier? =P

Wait, wasn't Defiant partially crippled when Kira jury-rigged her room's replicator unit in "Defiant"?

That issue was fixed in the War-Galaxy, and wasn't even there at all for the Sovereign.

No doubt but a crewmember playing with the 24rd century equivalent of her stateroom's microwave crippling the ship DOES raise some questions...

It looks cool but the actual read-up of what it's supposed to do doesn't impress me. They should have left it as a light warship. When I saw it immediately screamed in my mind "destroyer". It doesn't look like a carrier very much to me. A carrier should be a lot bigger.
Oh yeah, and the fortress mode, Sovereign piggyback mode etc. is just Trektarded.
