Commander T'Pol?

Post by Crazedwraith »

Ok, Season 4 of ENT is bening shown on Sky One. And I recently saw the episode "Home" where in T'Pol accepts a starfleet comission?

Up until then they'd bent but no broken the whole Spocks the firsty vulcan in starfleet thing but this just blew it out of the water. Is there any SOD explanation? (aside its a different timeline?)

One could make the excuse that T'Pol was given an honorary commission. She never set foot in Starfleet Academy. Spock, on the other hand, applied through SF Academy and went through four years of training. He earned his Commission.
So, Spock is still the first Vulcan in Starfleet to earn his commission. I know, it's crazy, but it's the only explanation available. That's Enterprise for you.

Starfleet of the Ent Era isn't Federation Starfleet. It's Earth's Starfleet, and hopefully gets absorbed by Earth Command during the Romulan War.

There is no "Spock was first" rule to be blown. Him being the first Vulcan in Starfleet is a fandom creation, and it's contradicted by canon : the USS Intrepid was an all-Vulcan Starfleet ship, so unless Spock convinced 430 Vulcans to sign up the year after him, there have got to be earlier Vulcan officers.

Even if you want to believe he was first, there is a stil an SOD explanation : T'Pol is part of Earth Starfleet, not UFP Starfleet. If she resigns before the UFP is founded, Spock would still be the first (UFP) Starfleet officer.
