An extreme ST irony I realized....
Does anyone else think it is extremely ironic that the Flagship of the Federation, a Communist system with state controled Industry, is named Enterprise?
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

Well it didn't seem to be a communist system back in TOS when the name was first coined. I guess they liked the name so they kept it no matter what socioeconomic system they would later adopt. "shrugs".

It's traditional, and traditions like these always trump rational explanation. They must always have some ship named Enterprise, even back in time.

I'm not claiming that its un-rationalizationable, I'm just saying I think it's extremely ironic.Mayabird wrote:It's traditional, and traditions like these always trump rational explanation. They must always have some ship named Enterprise, even back in time.
