Klingon vs Vulcan

Post by Sarevok »

A Vulcan and a Klingon face off in unarmed combat. Both are strong and well trained. The fight takes place on the planet where Kirk fought the Gorn alien. Who wins ?
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

I would say the Vulcan.

The strength and discipline would help them win out. Plus it'd be easy for them to make the artillery Kirk did.

I dunno. The Klingon would have more martial training, but the Vulcan would be more disciplined. Tough match.

Does the Vulcan nerve pinch work on klingons?

Anyone recall what happened to the Klingon that tried to take on the youth Spock in Star Trek III?

Aye, I was thinking that too
An angry Vulcan would win--no question about it. An in-control Vulcan, would still probably win.

How often do we see Klingons show any sort of martial arts aside from just; Hit the guy, wait a second. Hit again.

Anyone remember the "Pon-Farr" episodes in VOY? IIRC they were about equal (the Vulcan was *really* horny, by the way).

Which means all the blood was not going to his important muscles in a combat situation.

Klingons have never exhibited strength superior to humans, especially during a fight. However, you need several people to take down a vulcan.

Take Me Out To The Holosuite shows some goodness in Vulcans vs others. Sisko and Jake had been playing baseball for ages. A Vulcan team tore through them like a kleenex at a snot party.

I've finally been able to cite that episode for something... :D

Well what about Kirks Fight with Captain Krudge. Kirk at best was holding his own in that one.

Klingons appear to be moderately stronger then humans, but their strength is typicaly undisciplined. This means that humans with training can take down a Klingon. Worf appears to have cultivated his strength more then most Klingons and was able to fight off multiple opponents from time to time.

Klingons are certainly physically tougher than humans, with redundant systems and stronger bones. They have the potential to surpass the strongest of humans, as their skeleton offers greater support for muscle attachment points--however they are not born stronger per say, such strength seems to need developing, and your average Klingon grunt has not done so. For example we have un-impressive Klingons, but we also have Worf, who has lifted and thrown a man one-handed, and Krudge, a small statured, slim (i.e. not buff) Klingon, lifting the not so slim Kirk. Klingons are capable of great strength, particularly a great strength to cross-section ratio; the strongest ones are lean!

Kirk was 20 years older than he was in TOS at that time, too. And in TOS, he kicked the shit out of Klingons. And do I have to bring up Major Kira wiping the floor with ARMED Klingons in WotW?

I wouldn't tout Worf's abilities. He was taken down by two Ferengi in TNG.

Dont underestimate the Ferengi, 7 of them took over the Enterprise in Rascals... :D

On a more serious note Klingons are somewhat overrated.

Ferengi are suppose to be stronger than humans so this isn't surprising.

Well, think about it. The Ferengi are short and stout, so their muscle mass is more compact. It would naturally give them greater strength in proportion to their size.

I thought that Ferengi were actually weaker than Humans.

Nope, the real Ferengi, the ones in TNG anyway, were described as much stronger than they look. One decked Riker very, very handily, for example, and two of them knocked over Data, though we don't get to see him kick their butts afterwards

In Star Trek, it seems like there is no race that's more rail than humans.
