Maqui logistics

Post by Sarevok »

Where do the Maquis get supplies like spare parts, torpedoes, fuel etc ? Could it be that rogue sympathisers within starfleet might supply them ?
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

They seemed to have a few colonies and such, perhaps they mine things there?

I think there may be many independent sympathisers, or the Bajorans.

Sometimes it seemed like half the Maquis military leaders were ex-Starfleet, rogue Starfleet, or Starfleet Academy washouts, so it hardly seems surprising that some of them would still have unofficial connections with Starfleet personnel, including Maquis moles in Starfleet uniforms that we saw in canon. Sisko had a Maquis mole as an old Starfleet buddy, as well as his Starfleet head of security, and (the non-Starfleet) Kassidy Yates, Sisko's 'Significant Other,' was running medical supplies for the Maquis.

Beyond that, we saw at least one agent trying to buy weapons and other supplies from Quark, and it also seems likely that the gun running infrastructure that developed to support and profit from the Bajoran rebellion against the Cardassian occupation didn't just wither away and found the Maquis to be useful new customers.

There also seems the real likelihood, though it's purely conjecture on my part, that factions in Starfleet saw the Maquis operations in the DMZ as "A Good Thing." That is, as long as the Cardassians were busy hunting down Maquis, they weren't likely to get up to elaborate mischief against the Federation, and the almost proverbial Cardassian heavy-handedness would have kept Federation civilian attitudes firmly set against rapprochement with the Cardassians (who no Starfleet officer seems to like, for obvious reasons). It's entirely possible that one part of Starfleet Intelligence was honestly trying to root out the Maquis operations while another part was just as honestly trying to covertly support the Maquis by providing tip-offs and supplies through long strings of cut-outs and strawmen.

Given the scars and experiences left over from the Cardassian Wars, that would indeed seem correct about plausible involvement by SI (As for what S31 fealt on the matter, the VGR Section 31 novel Shadow shows that the Maquis were calling into account the Federation's expansion policies at the worst possible time and that S31 considered them a priority to eliminate).

Why not? As the Rules of Acquisition says, "Peace is good for business" and "War is good for business."

The Maquis also managed to steal the industrial replicators bound for Cardassia. They were supposed to be able to rebuild the infrastructure of entire worlds, so definitely a big payday for the Maguis logistics there.

Yes, but you still need the resources to run those things. If Voyager had to ration replication use, I'd shudder to think what industrial replicators would need.

The Maquis were primarily enemies of the Cardassians, who were allies of the Dominion. Why would the Founders provide supplies to the enemies of their allies? And didn't the Jem'hadar attemp to exterminate the Maquis at one point?

It is something they would have done before the Cardassians joined the Dominion. It would distract two powers and weaken the forces available to defend the wormhole.

not likely, considering that nobody even knew about the wormhole during the time the maquis rebellion started, and to top it off nobody even knew about the founders until well after the wormhold was discovered. far more plausible the ferengi or other alpha quadrant powers were supplying their weapons.

The Maquis went into operation a little over a year and a half after the discovery of the wormhole and several months prior to first contact wiht the Jem'Hadar. We also know that the chances that the Founders had infiltrated the Maquis are high given the Female Founder's hijacking of a Maquis ship in Heart of Stone. They probably helped to fuel some of the flames, but were also focusing on the big picture, ie getting the Fedss and Klingons to go at it.

The Ferengi (specificly, Quark's cousin) were willing to sell weapons of mass destruction (lol) to one nation on one world so they could wipe out 25 million people in the other nation on the other side of the world. I wouldn't put it past them to sell a few ships and guns to the Maquis. In fact, I'd say that'd be the FIRST thing they do.

I thinkn they managed to steal alot of stuff from Starfleet. take for instance the TNG episode where Ro joined the Maquis and they stole medical supplies from the Ent-D

That was the TNG episode Preemptive Strike. However repeating that feat wont be easy. They managed to pull it off IIRC because Picard planned it that way.

not planned but they did know that Ro was doing it so them let them go, but who said it had to be stolen the same way every time? I mean Rikers double self stole the whole freakin' Defiant from DS9, I think we see alot of the Maquis stealling stuff, enough to where that is where a good portion of there shit comes from.

IIRC Cassidy Yates ended up doing time for supplying to the Maquis. ANs in another episode i remember Quark setting up a deal with a Vulcan mamber of the Maquis. I combination of the Industrial Replicators, Ferengi and Sympathetic feddies seems to be the answer
