I have seen Scorpion. The episode in question is STVOY "Prey" for those interested...we don't actually see the Species 8472 individual tear through the hull, but seconds before it does we witness it walking on Voyager's hull. It had no equipment on it's person, nor can I think of any other way it breached the hull other than physically doing so.
