I was glad they changed uniforms to include pants. I wonder if he shaved his legs! Talk about no protection from fire, assuming SF uses fire resistant cloth.

Men should stick to kilts - you can wear them with panache and don't show too much leg. They also have better colours - tartans work well. That just looks pathetic - the short sleeves look terrible.
TNG needed the help of the "Queer Eye" guys for a fashion makeover.
Now if they would have put regular long pants with that shirt that could have been a cool uniform. It would be kind of similar to some of the uniforms that Admiral Kirk had in ST:TMP (a couple of his being the ONLY ones that didn't suck balls in that movie).

Okay, seriously, what the hell is up with that?
Back when Roddenberry was starting TNG, he had the dumbass idea of reversing gender roles, so to speak... apparently in his opinion, the TOS female uniforms were too "sexist" with their short skirts and stuff. He decided to turn the tables, and a bunch of uniforms ended up with skirts-- the dress uniform was basically a, well, dress with black tights underneath. Eurgh...
This is pretty much just one example... they, thankfully, dropped it after a few episodes, although the dress uniform didn't vanish till the end of the first season...

I actually thought it was only in the very first episode. Same as Troi wearing the skirt.

Still looks like starfleet drag queen. (this current dress uniform is better then (early) TNG uniform.
I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

Or perhaps he was boinking with some female crewmember, and in the rush to get back on duty they accidentlly put on each other's clothes (a la "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1").

Heh, a man claiming something was too sexist when he'd routinely have "just the part" for young actresses who'd want to be on the original StarTrek. Did something happen to Gene during the 70s, or something, and he got sprinked with Sensitivity Dust?

No serious, the cosmic cheerleader uniform was a really stupid idea, which I'm glad they have dropped after season 1. The man in a skirt is most likely one of the most embarrassing things ever shown in TNG.
I wonder if any crewmen had to wear these outfits into a crisis situation.
