No Deflector Dish?

How can a ST ship going at warp NOT have a deflector dish?
The Faster you go, the less maneuverable you are, and shields do only so much.

Deflector system might be internal... There are plenty of ships without visible deflectors...

the dish is probaly used to focus the deflector beam and also used as sensor system for the nav deflector.

Deflector dishes seem to be used mostly on the larger Trek ships or the faster ones. Ever notice how the Miranda doesn't have a dish? I suspect some ships merely use shield systems or smaller dishes because they don't need it much. I also suspect many of the alien races simply opt for a different approach. We have indications that delfector dishes on Federation ships are multi purpose tools and that might explain why they are more prevaliant.

My guess is all ships have deflector dishes. IIRC deflector dishes are used to generate shields. In some ships the dish is hidden.

That's pretty much how I think of it. I think the visible dish part on most Federation ships is just a huge sensor combined with a deflector. The deflector doesn't have to be combined with the forward sensor array but the Federation finds it a usefull combination.

not to mention versatile. How many times has a technobabble solution to save the ship involved pulsing something through the main deflector dish?

Well the ship you linked to does show a deflector "dish", just not as prominent like the E-D.

Regarding the Miranda, the depressions on the upper hull to the left and right of the central dome are supposed to carry the deflectors. The dishes themselves are supposed to be the small domes at the bottom.
