Well it seems that Paramount has finaly started listening to what fans have been talking about for some time. They want a more realistic weapon. Well the production staff of Paramount has delivered.

The MACO Rifle has iron sights, a retracting stock, can be equiped with a under barrel flashlight, and it even has a scope that pops up. While I don't like the entire look, it looks very military, very practical, and very well designed.

Agreed!

The MACOs were one of my Favorate parts of Season 3, With any luck, at least a few of them will have survived the final Episode. My only complaint about them was there lack of armor, if they just had a helmet, they would have been perfect.

It appears to be two different rifles in those series of pics, though I might have known that that would be the site. :wink:

This seems an actually good design;

Not too bulky, some what ergonomic, though the sight seems misplaced to me. Just seems like the shooter has to bend too much to get sight picture and sight alignment on it.

Image linking is restricted from that site. Also the modification your talking about is the sniper variant.

It should be noted they also have a forward vertical grip that can be attached or removed. Again showing how versatile it is.

The new MACO rifle is cool. It certainly looks better than the plasma weapons used in the first season.

The iron sights in the picture at the top of that page appear quite rudimentary. The front sight appears to be white which is quite odd, must a bitch in bright light, and the rear sight appears to be nothing more then a bumb on top of the scope, I can't see a groove or anything like that in it, I don't quite know how is someone supposed to take proper aim with those things. See here, the rear sight even has a rounded top?!

with the scope? Usually when they take the time to line up a shot they'll use the scope. When they're fighting close quarters or just laying down supressing fire, they'll have it up to their shoulder but they don't seem to take much time to look & aim.

Naturaly, but I am talking about the iron sights, what is the point in having worthless iron sights on their rifles? It's not like proper ones would be all that expensive.

That figures, those iron sights are almost useless.
