What are the most ridiculous threats to ship and crew you've ever seen in Star Trek? Like, for example, that one episode of Voyager where the ship was threatened by a piece of moldy cheese, or perhaps that DS9 one where the station was on the brink of destruction because of imaginations run wild, or maybe even that TNG episode where control of the E-D was taken over by the Orient Express so it could have offspring.

Any others?

The Outrageous Okona. (PS anyone but me notice that Okona was a Han Solo ripoff?)

In that episode a tiny little ship with dinky little weapons that wouldn't even penetrate the Enterprise-D's navigational shields threatens to attack them. (Trekkies have used this episode to say that the E-D is invulnerable to lasers, but they are idiots. These lasers were just incredibly weak.)

I don't think he meant "idle threats" so much as he means incredibly stupid things which actually threaten the ship.

DS9 season 4 - "The Muse" - an alien non-corporeal life form which gets off on 'stimulating' artistic geniuses like a muse comes to the station and starts fooling around with Jake Sisko. Yes, the station was 'attacked' by Jake Sisko's muse. I think he was having writer's block at the time.

Something tells me the writer of that episode had an ego the size of donkey, and about as annoying.

Moriarty taking over the ship and having to be talked down in "Elementary Dear Data". The thing there was that Moriarty was a holodeck character and managed to become able to do serious damage, not because of a virus or an insidious program, but because Geordi made a poorly worded command in the computer. This was also one of the many times that the Enterprise crew were too incompetant to just physically unplug the power supply to the holodeck.

Here's the funny part.

The episode that aired RIGHT AFTER that episode was called, "Load as a Whisper" and when they detected high powered laserfire on a planet Picard didn't want to put his ship in danger.

It's not just that it's OBVIOUS it's not INVULNERABLE to lasers...it's that it was refuted in the EPISODE RIGHT AFTERWARD!

The two klingon soldiers that managed to single handedly take over the Enterprise D and hold it at ransom with a holdout disruptor made from parts concealed in their uniforms. Which, surprisingly, wasn't detected at all by the transport scanners upon beaming over. . .

That one DS9 episode with the (virus?) that made everyone start speaking gibberish.

Although that was a great episode to make fun of while watching.

The Voyager episode (Spirit Folk I believe), where some Holodeck characters shoot out the controls for the safety interlocks (BEFORE said interlocks have been disengaged) and they hold the crewmembers hostage.

And Janeway refuses to turn the program off because it could corrupt the characters in the program, which in turn would demoralise the crew.

The fans of ENT.

Does anyone remember that episode of DS9( ), when a runabout shrank to roughly the size of a micro-machine(8)? A friend of mine told me about that episode before I saw it, and I thought he was pulling my leg. I don't think this could be classed as a threat to dS9, but it was certainly a threat to the crew. For sheer scraping the barrel, story writing stupidy, I think you'l be hard-pressed to come up with a better example.

The idea is fun, but exposes probably a shitload of vulnerability on the Trek computers.

Worst threat, hmmmm . . . pretty much every threat that ever happened in TNG. Even the Borg were just not as menacing as they were supposed to be.

The Ktarians; if they're UFP allies, why try to take them over?
