Your favorite ship design
Say what you want about star trek but they do have fancy looking ships.
Which race has accordign to you the nicest design? I only placed the mayor TNF races in the poll but anything goes (TOS, TNF, VGR)
For me, TNG-UFP, TOS-Romulan, Cardassians all are nice but if i really gotta choose i pick the Borg (particullary the cube). It were the first sci-fi race, that i know of anyway, that used simple geometrics shapes for their ship mesh. Compared to the more aerodynamic ST designs they were.

I like every UFP design from the TOS movie era (I consider the Constellation and other kitbashes with those designs to be of that era). However, I like ships from all of the UFP eras.

I say Dominion, their smaller ships when in groups look like bug swarms.
Everything larger just looks bad-ass.

The Romulan Warbird of TNG is my favourite design in ST, closely followed by the Galor.
The Warbird just looks elegant, yet deadly.

UFP for me, though I'll add the K'Tinga too.

AKA Starfleet.Federation of planets
TOS movie era is the best examples. Miranda, Connie-refit, Excelsior, even the Oberth and Spacedock - all cool designs. You can even include the Constellation class in this area as well.
TNG era is ... alright. I like the Sovvie, but not as much as the Ent-A or even Ent-B. The Defiant is a good looking ship, if only they didn't make it handle like a heavy fighter. I like the Akira.
The Bird of Prey is cool, for what amounts to as little more than a scout craft or patrol ship. Vorchas and Neghvars are also sweet.Klingon Empire
The D'Deridex Warbird is phenomenally cool. The Valdorn Warbird is monumentally crap.Romulan Star Empire
Nothing too special.Cardassian Union
The Borg?!? They're nothing more than geometric shapes, for fuck's sake! "Oh no, we're being attacked by the flying Cubes of DOOM!" Ugh.Borg Collective
I don't like the beetle ships, but those huge and heavy battlecruisers look alright.Dominium
Starfleet ships TOS era are my favourite, with Klingon ships in the same era as good contenders.

My take on each races ships:
Federation: They like their ships to be graceful, almost artistic.
Klingons: Their ships seem to be more of a tool for them and little more than a means to transport warriors to locations, aswell as fighting wars of attrition.
Romulans: Their ships since TNG era have been all about intimidation. They figure an opposing enemy will cave in to their demands and such.
Cardassian: I guess the same as the Romulans.
Dominion: I really like their ships. They must be pretty easy to build, since they supposedly have shitloads of attack cruisers.
Borg: Those geometric shapes of doom are smart designs. They maximize the space used and such.
Gah, my train of thought derailed around the time I was typing the Klingons, so if some of that doesn't make sense, then meh.
My vote goes for the Dominion.

I'm not sure the E-D could do that. However, if you've ever read "The Return" it does feature a Defiant-class ship which performs that stunt. It doesn't end too well for the Romulans, but then when has it ever ended well for the Romulans?Chardok wrote:isn't the Romulan Warbird like....fucking gigantic? The Warbird could hold two Sovergeins under its wings. There is a image somewhere. I will post it once I find it.Chardok wrote:isn't the Romulan Warbird like....fucking gigantic? TOS-era ships for me. Particularly the Constitution-refits.

Connie refit, Miranda, Excelsior. Those are the ones to beat.
