The TMP Enterprise model

The story of how the refit-Enterprise was originally painted. Also a tidbit on the construction of the model itself:
The Enterprise was eight feet long, with a skin made up of five different types of plastic molded and formed around a skeleton chassis which was made by a custom-aircraft fabrication facility using aircraft-grade aluminum struts which were heli-arc welded together. She had cost well over a quarter of a million to date.

Interesting article. I noticed that in the images of the Enterprise model the deflector dish is not glowing blue. Perhaps the deflector dish special effect was done seperattely.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

First, it's not shown glowing because the dish isn't installed yet in those photos.

Second, all illumination on the TMP Enterprise model were practicle effects: such as LEDs and fiberoptics.
