Or at least a device equal in function. ;)

Bored last night, I was skimming through Star Trek 5 when I came across the battle at Paradise City, and I noticed that (among other things) the Army of Galactic Light had at least one bazooka-esque weapon in it's arsenal... which produced very similar effects to Worf's shoulder-weapon in Insurrection, albeit less powerful; the blast only knocked Sulu off his horse, leaving him apparently unhurt.

There was also a gatling gun used, as well as Federation riot shields... which seemed to work against the gatling gun until the projectiles hit the poor bastard's leg, unprotected by the shield.

Prop-recycling is common practise. The Klingon disruptor pistols in TOS were modified editions of the Eminian sonic disruptors seen in "A Taste Of Armageddon", while the Romulan cloaking device in "The Enterprise Incident" was Nomad's headpiece attatched to Sargon's globe-receptacle. Great way to save on the budget.

And of course the phasers from the movies showed up in several TNG episodes. The Dominion rifle also showed up as 3 other weapons throughout the series.

Interesting information.

Not entirely surprising, we know of considerable numbers of ground warfare systems that existed in the TOS (and presumably TMP) era.

I didn't mean that the prop itself was recycled, I meant that a similar type of weapon was seen in the two movies, although the ST5 bazooka only knocked Sulu off his horse. But then, these weapons were crudely fashioned from whatever they could scavenge from desolate Nimbus 3, and not manufactured at a Federation facility.
