Enterprise-J *spoilers*

Well, I was talking to Alyeska tonight and was surprised to find that he didn't know about the E-J. I've decided for the hell of it to make a thread about this future ship.

The Enterprise 1701-J was seen in 'Azati Prime'. Daniels pulled Archer to the future (2551) to witness the Battle of Procyon V, the final battle of a war between the Federation (which by that time, included the Klingons as a member) and a transdimensional race called the Sphere Builders, by the Federation. The ship Archer and Daniels watched this from was none of than the Enterprise J! While we didn't get an external view of the ship, we did get to see a display of the ship on the wall of the coridoor of the ship.

Beyond this, we have no real info about the ship. Considering the Federation appears to employ Dauntless classes at this point, we can conjectur that Quantom Slipstream might be the primary FTL drive. Phasers still seem to be a main weapon in the 26th century, since we saw the E-J fire one during the course of the battle. Other weapons and features are unknown.

On a related note: Someone at the Scifi-Mesh Forums is working on a 3D model of the E-J and someone else is working on one for Bridge Commander.

Also, I didn't take nor claim credit for the screen shots. Someone at the SF-Mesh forums posted them.

The picture is incorrectly labeled, as the ship at top center is a Dauntless.

I think the label goes with the pic in the top left hand corner.

Ah, yes. Indeed it does.

Picture and subject matter already covered, about 2-3 weeks ago.

To be honest I think Enterprise-J is so freaking lame. Can't they come up with something better?

Fuck their Enterprise J and every other letter in the alphabet. I've said it before, but this is their fucking prequel. Time travel, the same old shit we've seen a million times, and an Enterprise from the future. They should just go fuck themselves, the no talent hack cunts.

Pisses me off.

All the names after Enterprise-E sound lame. After E none of the letters sound right.

E- Flies into a sun with all hands.

F- Discovers a race of computer hackers, which sends them a virus. Warp core blows

G- Discovers a large lifeform that lives in the void of space, attempts to mate with ship. Warp core blows due to destablization by the lifeforms spacewang.

H- Discovers a new type of nebula, warp core blows.

I- Attacked early in the war with the sphere builders, warp core blows. J made as avenging angel.

J- Heavily religious future federation considers the ship tainted by Cpt. Archer and must be thourghly cleaned... by a warp core exsplosion.

The "J" seems like an even uglier extrapolation of the "D".

It took me a long time to get where I liked TNG starships with the overly huge elipitical saucer, the proportionately smaller enginering section (compared to the original Enterprise, the "A" and the "B"), and the teeny tiny warp nacelles.

The "E" was a big improvement in appearance. The "J" is f-u-g-l-y. It looks like flying saucer with a tail.

To be honest, when I see the concept models and things made by people on the net, and looking at the lowest screen cap, the design does grow on me... it's not the worst design ever, and I certainly prefer it to the designs of the prequel ships seen so far.

But that's probably because of the concept model details, not the limited details seen here.

But tell us how you really feel.

About a week after Azati Prime aired the episode said something like this "While dissension among Xindi ranks festers, Enterprise tries to recover from a devastating attack, they discover another federation starship."

Whatever that ment, Ent-J ? NX-02? ...... point is they have ethier changed the plot or they fucked up on the site.

Seeing how there is not Federation right now in the series, I'd say the site fucked up majorly

Agreed. The E is the best looking Enterprise.

That's a truly ugly starship. And why would the Prometheus design still be in service however many hundreds of years later? The Federation still didn't figure out from the first Borg Cube and the Dominion War that 200-year-old antique starships are not healthy for their crews when a battle starts?

It shouldn't be, but it saves money on designing new ships. The Prometheus wouldn't be noticed by anyone who hasn't watched Voyager, anyway, and it looks sufficiently advanced enough. I hear there was even a Vor'cha visible.

They did a lot of detail on the Enterprise-J, I wonder if it will be making more appearances.

TOS era Mirandas were used in the Dominion war. Perhaps the Prometheus simularly being used in that battle.

Well, think of it like this.

How different does a modern warship look from a ship built 100 years ago?

The superstructures have changed; no more smoke stacks and such. But the hull form is the same, they typically put the engines in similar arrangements, etc. I doubt propellor design has changed very much either or the basic materials used in construction.

The fact is, not everything changes radically. It's quite possible that the Prometheus glimpsed in the episode was a newer build that had the same basic frame and appearance but newer and better internal equipment and maybe material hull composition.

Only if you mean "inside, not in front".

Props have changed drastically, and the alloys used are completely different.

The Ent-J looks like yet another fucking abortion from the same no-talent assclowns that brought us the derivative Scimitar (hay guys let's redo the Dominion battlecruiser!) and the derivative Valdore (hay guys let's bring back teh Sona battalshipz!). It looks like they've completely fallen in love with the style personified by the Akira and the NX-01 and decided to make yet another design reminiscent of it.

I was also under the impression that Dauntless was an alien mockup and not an actual Starfleet design. (I almost can't believe Janeway fell for it; to send such an advanced ship out to pick them up on autopilot would be one of the worst decisions ever, paradoxically both in line with other strategic blunders Starfleet has made and completely out of character with their paranoia about the Prime Directive being violated)
Agreed. The E is the best looking Enterprise.
Maybe (maybe), but it's a damn shame that only First Contact came close to properly conveying the starship's size and majesty. I simply don't get that effect with either of the other two Ent-E films.

Yeah, so maybe the Prometheus tended to die in droves in that battle too.
