Pretty good episode (For modern ST anyway).

What did you all think?

I was very impressed by this episode. It's one of the best episodes yet. However, it did leave me thinking that this season of Enterprise could be a set up for a new ST series if Enterprise gets cancelled.

Was anyone else screaming Death star when they showed the plans for the Xindi weapon, and their chosen method of destroying it?

Definite Star Wars ties. Really loved the Enterprise-J; glad to see Starfleet is still keeping up the tradition. Interested to see how the Sphere Builders framed Earth.

Can someone spoil this episode for me? I like being spoiled. Particularly, what the fuck is the Enterprise-J? (I already dread time travel being somehow related to the answer... )

Archer and co. arrive at Azati prime and find that the only way to destroy the Xindi weapon is a suicide run with the Xindi shuttle they captured in 'Hatchery' - which Archer volunteers for. Daniels, however, whisks hims into the 26th century aboard the Fed flagship of that era, the Ent-J. He tells Archer that he cannot die, that if he undertakes this mission, the founding of the Federation will be in doubt. If he does, then Earth will be destroyed, the Sphere builders - which have framed Earth - will destroy the Xindi, and the invasion of the Milky Way by their race will begin. The only way to do this is to make peace with the Xindi Council.

Archer, however, does not listen and proceeds with the mission - only to be captured by Xindi forces. He manages to convince Drega to listen, but the Xindi-Reptiles does not and orders his forces to attack Enterprise, which believing Archer has failed, has gone after the Xindi weapon. The ships inflict heavy damage and cause multiple hull breaches, sending crew into space...

...and ending with that cliffhanger.

It's the Enterprise from the mid 26th century. If the picture on the bunkhead behind Archer and Future Guy was it, then the E-J looks like a Galaxy saucer section with 4 warp nacelles like the Constellation class.

How much longer are they going to keep the same registry number? 26 times? Or is the Enterprise-Z going to be succeeded by the Enterprise-AA?

Is anyone else impressed by how fucking tough the NX is? First we see them shoot phase pistols at the warp core without noticeable damage in a previous episode. Tonight they got fucking hammered and took damage that might have destroyed a GCS. The whole time I was expecting it to be destroyed and the episode to end with a Reset Button-O-Doom. That little ship is a scrapper.

Seconding on the durability of the NX. My only major gripe about the episode is T'Pol's behavior towards Archer. She seemed to be getting waaay too emotional when he announced his intentions, more so than in 'Twilight'. And on that note, here's to hoping that the conclusion disregards the reset button.

Btw, did I see a Prometheus go flying by the window on the E-J right after Archer arrived?

The next episode, "Damage" set to air 04/21, will pick up where Azati Prime left off and will have T'Pol making a confession. I think it is quote possible that T'Pol is either half-Romulan or a Romulan operative posing as a Vulcan in order to gather data on Vulcan protectorates in order for a strike to reclaim their ancient homeworld.

You never see the Ent-J it is just from the inside. With the battle going on outside a window, there is however one of those Treky ship top down things on a console. You know what I mean?

Just finished watching the episode... Wow! What really struck me was the excellent camerawork and use of darker lighting throughout the episode. In terms of visual appearance, we have come a long way from the dull look of the earlier series. Trek has seen nothing like this on small screen before, and only Meyer's movies (TWOK and TUC) have depicted the ferocity of battle as well as Azati Prime did!

I think it's also fair to say that all the actors performed well, especially Bakula and Blalock.

This was definetely one of the most enjoyable Enterprise episodes I've seen for a long time. Hell, Enterprise isn't classic Trek, but I don't mind watching it if they can keep producing episodes like this one.

Ah, too bad. This ep sounds interesting enough that I might watch the re-run on Sun.

Loved when the NX was so crippled she had to get off that last torpedo and kill a xindi ship.

And you enjoyed this shit? This is supposed to be the big Trek prequel? Pulling ships from the shitty future and making references for the Voyagerpeons? Jesus.

That's what pisses me off about "Enterprise." While a prequel could be a halfway decent show, we just get the retarded ass time travel storylines where Archer has to learn about the Federation and what will happen in the future. Fuck it. God forbid they write anything original.

probably does something to protect against long-term exposure to chroniton radiation, otherwise, he'd never be able to get any work done since time would reset itself around him.

T'Pol's erratic behaviour and growing difficulty in keeping her emotions in check--which may have started out as bad writing-- has now become a story point. Note that she actually lost her temper with Trip and hollared at him; perplexed, he retorted "What is the matter with you?!"

Rumor has it T'pol's psych problems will be explained as a combination of P'Mar's Syndrome--the potentially fatal degenerative brain disorder she contracted as the result of her telepathic rape in "Fusion"--and some sort of drug addiction.

For some reason, that just smacks of giving her emotions to make her seem more human. Which just reminds me of Spock.

Actually--and I don't know if the writer's/producer's have had similar thoughts--I have always regarded T'Pol as a sort of Xon-lite, what with her fascination for human beings and emotional upsets.

Xon was a Vulcan character from the Star Trek Phase Two syndicated TV series that never came to pass. Star Trek the Motion Picture was originally intended to be a made-for-TV pilot film for this series. Xon was a bone fide genius protege that made Spock look like a mongoloid idiot. Realizing that being half-human gave Spock unique insights into humanity, Xon's story arc would have had him actively trying to overcome his training into logical behaviour and trying to be more emotionally expressive in an attempt to better fit in with the Enterprise crew.
