12 Power?

In ST:TMP, the V'ger cloud is said to have a "12 power" energy reading, something rather astonishing to Sulu.
Is this just vague Treknobabble, or does it relate to something real in physics?

Stravo, in Starcrossed, also has Seven saying that the Eclipse superlaser is of a Tweltfth Power energy field.

If memory serves me, the novelization has Kirk thinking to himself that a 12th power energy field would be capable of stopping earth's sun from rotating!

Maybe the superlaser on Emperor's Will, which is an Executor-class not an Eclipse. There's no Eclipse in that fanfic.
An Eclipse can be find in Wong's fanfic on the main site.

Really? Ah well. It's been awhile since I've read Starcrossed from the beginning.

It means 10^12 something. Could be watts, could be megawatts, could be megatons per second, could even be electronvolts we don't know the units, and thus it's a useless measurement.
For reference, whatever it is, a TMP era starship can put out 10^8 - 10^9 of it...

It is just vauge technobabble since we dont know what unit it is measured in.

The
emperors will is a modified executor and testbed vessel for the ship mountable superlaser.

Exactly... someone interested in calculating how much rotational KE our sun has ?
