Is there anything in Gamma Quadrant?

Post by Straha »

I know the Romulans and Klingon are in Beta, the Borg are in Delta, but what about Gamma?

Rom and Klings in Beta? Then what was with all the shit about Cardassia selling out the Alpha Quadrant? If they only sold out Feds and Ferengi...big whoop.
History? I love history! First, something happens, then, something else happens! It's so sequential!! Thank you first guy, for writing things down!

The writers are morons? Forgetful morons. Even though the Romulans and Klingons are in the Beta Quadrant, much of both the AQ and BQ are unexplored and the two territories interlap - in other words, parts of the Federation spillover into the BQ, parts of the Klingons spillover into the AQ etc.

Think of it as two different Theatres of the War, where most of the action took place in the Alpha Quadrant, and the invasion started there. Which made it more threatened than the Beta Quadrant (I think the Romulans have the most territory in the BQ, while the Klingons and Federation only have a small presence on the border of Romulan space - I'm not sure however).

Was not there a hunter type species in the Gamma quadrant that once chased its prey to DS9.

Yes, but no-one knows just how powerful they were, and since we never see them again... It's possible they could've been a Dominion member world that's allowed enough autonomy to conduct these hunts. If it is they certainly didn't mention it.

Acc. to the DS9 Companion, The Search was supposed to show that people like Tosk were bred by the Dominion as sort of a reward for theose guys joining the Dominion.

Tosk did seem like he could have come from a Jemhadar or vice versa. He was reptillian looking and could shroud himself (ie cloak) so it's not too much of a stretch to say that he might have shared some ancestry with the Jemhadar.

I wouldn't mind having someone with those capabilities in my Army.

To me Tosk looked a whole lot like the hunters, just without the hair.

But with improved weapons, equipment and tactics. The Dominions soldiers are forbidable but they are badly armed.

What's in the Gamma Quadrant? Basically, the Dominion and Wal-Mart. Nothing but Evil on the farside of the Wormhole...

Well, the "Mission: Gamma" books try to fill it in, but they end up ripping off species from Clarke's Rama series (they bastardised the octospiders), and making up all sorts of crazy anomolies as plot devices. Some crazy cathedral that makes you revert in age, bunch of species at war with nanoprobe 'nets'. Absolute trash.

And the Solar system is right on the border between Alpha and Beta quadrants, according to the Star Charts book.

The Federation probobly lies somewhere between the alpha and the beta quadrant. The Excelsior was able to cross from alpha to beta quadrant in less than a day in Star Trek VI.

FYI, Dominion Poleran rifles are a modification of the rifles first used by the Hunters who chased after Tosk. Its entirely possible they are Dominion members.

That or the Dominion procured the technology from them.

Star Trek: Star Charts draws the Alpha/Beta line right smack through the middle of the sun, meaning the Federation covers is on both sides. Cardassians are (were) another big AQ power. The Sun is actually divided equally in 8 different sectors as well, but considerd to be in Sector 001 for navigational purposes.

If this is true then why was it that the Dominion seemed compelled to stay at Carassia and have the fleet there. Why not keep the majority have the fleet or at least the Founder in the GQ

Do you have seen the episode where the 1000+ ship fleet of the Dominion finally breached the wormhole and was "vanished" by the Prophets ?

The Dominion HAD the majority of their forces in the GQ... unfortunately for them Sisko put a minefield in front of the wormhole.

sorry, i have not seen this episode. But what of the Founder. Why did she come out of the protection of the GQ in the first place. Did she want to just boost the moral.

Not unusual for a military leader (a virtually immortal one at that) to wish to lead from the front. Even her death would be immaterial, since there are millions of other Founders able to take her place.

True, it was to my understanding that she was the only leader while her entire race was consider "gods" and what not among the Dominion.
