'Star Trek: The Experience' in Vegas observations
I don't want to explain this attraction again, so if you want to know exactly what it is then look up its website.
So, I noticed one thing about Trek phasers on display in the museum. The Voyager phaser (with the curved handle called a 'boomerang phaser') was described as being 'experimental' and used only by the Voyager crew. Is that right? Were they back to using the regular TNG and DS9 phasers in 'Nemesis?' I always thought the boomerang style was lame anyway... And why did Lameway never use the Type 1 phaser? Even when the situation called for a stealthy phaser that could be hidden in the palm of the hand, she still used the dorky boomerang phaser.

THey used a Type 1 phaser once in the episode 'In the flesh', the episode that nutured 8472. Chakotey took one when he went on his covert mission down to the Earth recreation. And it worked quite well as a holdout weapon. When his cover was blown and a Guard rushed him, he zapped him.Superman wrote:I don't want to explain this attraction again, so if you want to know exactly what it is then look up its website.

Janeway though doesn't appear to want to go ANYWHERE without a frigen phaser rifle. I mean on a covert mission she would probably have this massive outline of a rifle tucked into her back under her uniform or something.

If Voyager was carrying experimental hand phasers, shouldn't they also have the regular stuff nearby?

you'd think that they would. but wasn't voyager launched in a bit of a hurry? if so then maybe they hadn't completely stocked it. it's not as though they had expected voyager to go missing in the delta quadrant. chasing down the maquis ship was supposed to have been a rather quick mission.

The ride was fun, if dorkey. The general atmoshpere was cool. The drinks were too expensive though. Twas on of those 'been there seen that' things.Col. Crackpot wrote:And you went to the Star Trek hotel why, exactly?

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

I thought the scale was about right, well except for the HUGE turbolift.Uraniun235 wrote:IIRC, it's possible to rent out the Experience's bridge mockup for weddings and other such events to the tune of several thousand dollars.
They say it's built just like the one on TNG, but it seemed smaller to me when I went through.

I actually highly enjoyed the "Experience". The production values seemed pretty good, and the character actors walking around in costume and interacting with the crowds did a really great job. You could tell they were either trekkies themselves or had really done their homework.

During the ride the Enterprise-D performs far better in battle than we normally see her perform during the show/movies
