Saw this episode of TNG today. For those not familiar, the episode has Picard, Data, Troi and La Forge returning to the Enterprise on a runabout. They encounter alot of temporal anomolies. When they arrive where the Enterprise is, they find what appears to be a battle between a time frozen Enterprise and Romulan warbird. The warbirds firing distrupters at the E-D, (you can actually see that some of them impacted against the saucer hull of the Enterprise) and a strange orange beam going from the Enterprise to the warbird. Using modified transporter armbands, Picard, Data and Troi beam over to the Enterprise bridge to investigate.

On the battle damaged bridge, they seem a bunch of Romulans. Ones manning the helm and another is moving towards Riker, who's laying on the ground. Anyways, Picard heads to one of the transporter rooms, Data goes to engineering and Troi goes to sick bay, locations that have Romulans. Troi is shocked to find that Crushers taken a direct hit from a distrupter fired by a Romulan. Picard discovers that the reason why so many Romulans are on the ship is because they're apparently being beamed aboard willingly. Seen both by the fact that atleast one of the Romulans on the transporter pad is injured and Worf's hands are on the transporter controls. Data discovers that the warp core was breaching when time froze.

Long story short, it turns out that the Enterprise came to the warbirds aid when it's quantom singularity shut down and it sent out a distress signal. The Enterprise attempted a power transfer, while Romulans were being beamed onboard. It turns out that some weird aliens were using the singularity as a nest and when the E-D began the power transfer, the aliens tried to stop it by trying to destroy the Enterprise. (hence the distrupter fire) When the attack began, the ensign manning helm was killed by an exploding console and one of the Romulan officers took it and when Riker was knocked down by one of the impacts, the Romulan commander went to help him up. It also turns out that the Romulan in sickbay wasn't shooting at Crusher, but was shooting at one of the aliens and Crusher just got in the way.

I left out some stuff. They reversed time and played it forward by using modified tricorders. La Forge was injured by one of the aliens and Troi removed his armband to freeze him in time.

One of the things I liked about this episode was the fact that we finally got to see the main engineering section of a warbird. Odd how they keep the singularity behind a panal. It was also the first time we saw the engineering room of a Romulan warship since that one TOS episode where Kirk stole the cloaking device. I find it odd that a Romulan would take the helm on a Feddy ship. Found the whole scene where Picard drew a smiley on that cloud of death funny.

Any episode that shows a Romulan Warbird is a good one.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.

The episode was sort of like a mystery. You were presented with all this info and had to make assumptions on what happened. It looked like the warbird decloaked and opened fire on the Enterprise and was in the process of boarding it. Slowly though, all that unravels and we finally learn the truth.

Plus a Romulan taking the helm of the Enterprise.
