Okay.. the Q can reach the beginning of the universe to the end of the universe, travel back in time and forward in time. The Q have also stated that they have learned everything already, and hence their boredom.

So isn't that kind of like they're living with predestination? And by continually fucking with the timeline, aren't they altering what they already know? Or are they just familiar with the broad strokes of the universe, like when something will go nova.. etc etc.

We do not know with any degree of certainty that the Q are able to time travel to any extent whatsoever. Their alledged time travel and alterations of temporal continuity are entirely subjective incidents which can be more easily explained with the illusion theory.

Well obviously you would when one is dealing with a race characterized, as John deLancie put it in 1996 at the 30th anniversary special, by omnipotent powers, roguish good looks, and an ego as big as the all-outdoors.

Not exactly a profound feat given one has a broom shoved up his ass and the other is dumber then a rock .

Well I have a theory that Trek time travel, isn't time travel at all.

This combines with the parallel dimensions theory, and is based on the episodes "Parallels"; "All Good things"; Any of the Mirror universe episodes et al. With infinite worlds, and infinite possible timelines, I theorize that these timelines are not all happening at the same time interval, rather different dimensions exist at differen't points in history.

When a trek person "travels in time" what I believe they are actually doing is slipping into an alternate dimension. Now, some dimensions are closer than others therefore they are easier to slide into. When they attempt to travel back to their own time, they actually slip into another dimension where their alternate selves have just left from that is nearliy identical to the one they left, save for the changes to the past which they expect they have made.

It is the only way to explain the paradoxes that obviously would exist in modern trek time travel. Quite honestly, I think it was handled better in TOS, and strangely enough the new Enterprise than it was in TNG, DS9, or the very worst of them Voyager.

I think the Q have managed not only to move into these other dimensions, but back to their own as well. Now if there are "alternate" Qs in these other universes, that would explain why they must return to their own universe (doubtful they would want clones of themselves in their universe. Which gives them knowledge of what might be, but not neccessarily what will be in their "own" universe.
