Star Trek 25th anniversary game

Post by Jason von Evil »

http://www.bhlegend.com/php/show.php3?game=1178

Found this the other night while searching for freeware and abandonware games. From what I've read at that site and another site, this games supposed to be one of the best Trek games ever. I agree, this game is great. Where else would you get to play as Kirk and command the Enterprise? :D

The ship to ship combat is hard though. I kept getting spanked by a friggin pirate ship! Of course, that's because you have to manually aim at the target. Still, a great game.

I have a question about the Connies though. What was the rate of torpedo fire for a non-refit and a refit Connie?

If you think one pirate ship is tough, you'd better practice; there are some shit-tough battles later on.

And yes, it is one of the best games.

There was a sequel as well called Judgement Rites which was superior IMHO. Great set of games and I really wish they would have made more of them.

Scroll down a bit, they have a list of Trek freeware games. Pop up warning though.

I remember this game. I still have the CD-ROM version with full voices and an expanded final mission. Doesn't run under VDMS or DOSBox, though (apparently the sound card and VESA mode support needed is still lacking), so it's just a coaster for now. Though even when I stopped playing, I could only rarely finish the last battle in the game -- it got hopelessly cheap.

I'm at a stalemate with that damn pirate ship that you fight in the beginning of the second mission. The things alittle too fast for the Connie. Although, I have managed to do a few loop de loops in the Enterprise. :D

Different speeds give you different manueverabilities, IIRC.

Goddamn! I never managed to beat that battle. I got so very close on a couple of times, which irritated the hell out of me.

there is a Rei Ayanami strip poker game on that site....which answers the age old question: sure rei likes pie, but would you like to see rei's pie?

Weird, it works fine on mine.

What do you put for the screen under setup?

The last battle requires a little bit of luck, but it isn't that hard. Concentrate on the Elasi ships first and keep yourself at low speeds to be manuverable. When you go up against the modified Connie, stay the HELL away from it's bow as it has a plasma torpedeo launcher that will rip your shields apart. Three minutes and you can win this one if you're good.

My strategy was to focus on the E-2 and destroy her first. Then destroy the Elasi ship that has the three photon launchers, after that the other Elasi ship is childs play.

Beat the level, then kicked that Rommie warbirds ass in the third mission.

Edit: I was also surprised that the Masada was a Ptolmey class.

Problem with that is that the E-2 takes much longer to destroy because of its heavy shields and the fact that it doesn't stay still for very long. If you attack it first, it is likely you will be spinning around for awhile while the Elasi chew your shields to bits.

I remember playing this game back in the day. I got stuck at that big door in the desert, on the planet with the people who had a base-3 number system. I'm pretty sure that the code for the door was some number converted to base-3, but I didn't know how to do that as a kid. I should try that game again...

You had to research base three on the Enterprise before beaming down. If you don't then you can't get inside.

Actually I believe you could use your communicator and get the answer while on the planet.

True, but while your picking on the Elasi the E-2 and her plasma torpedo will chew your shields up as well.

Basically you need to destroy either the Elasi w/ three photons or the E-2 first if you want to win.
