Definitely not a standard design, the CG is beautiful though. I think it looks more like an Alien Of The Week than anything Starfleet would build though.

Looks nice, though I'm not personally a fan of that style.

At first I thought you could be referring to the Enterprise Study (second ship). I like its design a bit more than the Sovie, if it's a bit 'civilianized'.

I wonder what a fully militarized one could do...

no offense but VOMIT.

ok, maybe i should clarify: it looks unthought out and is ridiculously simple to make with nurbs. the texturing is shit. the lighting is horrid.

Well made, but I'm not a fan of the design.

Kojikun, I'd be curious to see you do better.

Typical thing for someone to say. I don't have to be good at designing ships to know when something looks (and is) simplistic and ugly.

Seriously, it looks like a B5 shadow vessel reject.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Although there are a lot of nice Trek-verse designs, and it is refreshing to see original stuff in-universe from time to time, this one in particular doesn't appeal to me.

But you didn't criticize the design. You criticized the meshing, texturing, and lighting.

So just once kojikun, back your shit up. Looks asstastic? Fine. Do better or shut your damn mouth.

Technically, it's nice. Design and coolness-wise, it's okay but not super good or anything.

I also said the design is unthought out, so you can now kiss my ass.

I never said I could do better, dumbfuck. I have nothing to back up because I was stating my opinion on the ship, AS THE ORIGINAL POSTER REQUESTED. So fuck off, Howedar.

It's a pretty design, but hard to see in the pictures. It looks sort of like something the Naboo would design. The copy is just ridiculous, and the only vaguely neat idea in it is that the landing gear can move the ship overland. If only there was a good reason for it to have that.

So in other words, you presume to judge someone's techniques without knowing said techniques yourself? Kiss my ass, you self-righteous piece of shit.

I know the techniques, which is exactly why I was able to comment on them specifically. And even if I didn't, I can still comment on it because that was the entire point of this thread. Why don't you rag on the other people here who don't like the design, hmm? Aya thought it was ugly, why isn't he getting yelled at by you? Are his critiques not specific enough to be considered "unknowledgable"? What about Sirius? Is "lame" indicative of his expert knowledge of 3D modelling techniques? I said it's simple to make with nurbs, and that it is. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out, just someone with a passing familiarity with how nurbs work. I said the texturing is shit, and that it is. To recognize that you just have to compare it to high quality texture jobs and notice the severe lack this model has. I said the lighting is horrible. All you need to do is look at the pictures and notice that you can barely see the fucking ship in any detail because the pics are oft too dim.

What the fuck is your problem, Howwie? Afraid of someone whos a bit more knowledged then Sirius or Aya saying that it's a crappy model? If you're going to rag on me, be sure to get them to, they were less specific then I, and they said the same stuff I did.

You can hardly see it in most of those pics and in the ones you can looks ugly. If it were for a different show it could rate a "not bad" but its also totally un-treklike.

Ever done any 3D modeling work? I have, and for real engineering purposes, not just pretty pictures. The general shape of that ship is child's play with any decent CAD system. Just make an ellipsoid primitive, then hash it into a pair of NURBS surfaces, split at the middle. Now, grab a couple of points on that NURBS, pull 'em out with a surface-morph tool until you think you've got nice-looking stretched winglets, and then mirror the resulting surface. Join 'em back together, stitch it to solid, and then do a couple of Boolean subtracts in order to create those fucking stupid-looking hood scoops (the first Riceboyz Star Trek ship ), and you've got your ship.

I can't speak for Koji, and I only did 3D modeling with no regard for lighting or texturing (engineers don't care about that), but the basic ship design is child's play, and I could have whipped the basic shape up in literally 5 minutes. Besides, it looks ugly.

Howedar, calm down. Nomad asked what our opinions on the ship were and we gave it. The ship might look nice to some, but not to others.

No sir, I don't like it.

Change the skin and make it an alien of the week sure.

But as a Starfleet ship it's all kinds of wrong.
