some random trek thoughts

Instead of making multiple threads over a long period of time, I figured it would be easier just to put all my recent Trek related thoughts into one thread.

Ships

The Centaur Class - According to Lcarms.net and DITL, the Centaurs have two torpedo launchers. Yet, if you look at this, I believe those dark brown squares on the engineering hull are torpedo launchers. Either the Centaurs have four launchers, or the front and back ones are are connected, thus counting as two launchers, instead of four.

I found this an interesting article. I like the idea that Connies could still be in service as late as the 2360s. Would've been nice to see the E-D moving through space next to a Connie. :D

The part about how Oberaths possibly being 180 years old is interesting aswell. That would make them the oldest ships still in service.

That is one cool model, love to have one. The variants, save for the Miranda, look weird. The transport/tug looks alot like the Centaurs.

Makes me want to try and make a Nebula or other Galaxy kitbash out of my MicroMachine E-Ds. The Declaration is interesting at best.

Now for some questions:

1. Which series or movie had the best bridge? Go here and here for reference.

2. http://www.phasers.net/2370/phaser.jpg

Since when did phasers become phallic? :wtf:

3. Do you believe Seven was related to Admiral Hanson, the guy who led the 39 ship fleet at Wolf 359? Would be fairly interesting if they were related.

Since when did phasers become phallic?
Because TNG Era Starfleet officers dont have one of their own.

Just as a point of interest, as games don't count - if you watch the Endgame mission end sequence in Elite Forces II, there's a Constitution in the fleet moving to engage the Borg sphere... :D

In Elite Force, there's a Mirrorverse Connie in that ship graveyard. It was attached to a BoP and you can travel through it. The levels are incredibly accurate.

Regular TV style. Complete with miniskirts and 3D chess. :D

I would have loved to see such a shot. We got to see an Excelsior alongside a Galaxy... why can't we get to see a Constitution alongside a Galaxy? :(

Well apparently, that one episode with the Constellation was originally supposed to have a Connie. But, it was decided that it would be easier to kitbash a new ship than to set up the Connie model.

Could be. I heard the Connie model's paintjob had been utterly ruined between Star Trek 4 and 5 somehow, and the TNG budget probably wouldn't have been able to accomodate a proper repainting of it (that and it might have taken longer to repaint it properly than they had time to do so).

Best Bridge, I go with the Defiant's, its efficient and cool looking.

Except for it's relatively small size the Defiant bridge was very cool.

Best bridge: Enterprise in Star Trek 2.

Best bridge: Either the Excelsior or the Generations Bridge of the Enterprise.

Okay, question about the Prometheus. I keep hearing that the one seen at the end of "End Game" was a variant that couldn't seperate into multiple parts. Is this true?

Its merely an assumption bassed on observed facts. That and an interview with Rick Sternbeck.
