EAS has no sections about alien races, behind ships and weapons.

Well, I'm having trouble coming up with male Bajoran names. Also, any info about their religion would be helpful.

Their religion is that irritating Prophet/Pah-Wraith duality good/evil shit. Like all alien races in Star Trek, they have precisely one religion and it's a knock-off of some real human religion (angels vs demons; the fucking writers even made subterranean caves of fire in which the demons live ).

One of the things that puzzles me is how easily the Bajorans got whipped by the Cardies. I mean, these guys were warp capable when humans were sitting in caves picking fleas out of each others asses. Yet, 2328, the Cardies managed to invade and beat them. That's like the Narn kicking the Minbari or Vorlons asses.

I do like their weapons though. Their hand pistols seem to be better than Federation phasers in terms of concealment.

They were a race of pacifists mostly, artists and religious types.

On the name thing, some are available here.

Basically they've named a bunch of extras, though you'll have to check if the personell are Bajorans. It's kind of a long shot.

They had solar sail ships that got lucky and hit some weird phenomena that gave them warp speed, not quit the same as being truly warp capable. Besides Bajorans might have had a period of technological stagnation, they are very religious.

Those huge bulky things with large handle guards are more easily conceled then Federation Phasers?

Not to forget, that they had a strict caste-system (that was stumped by the Cardassians), that might have slowed technological progress significantly.
The optimist thinks, that we live in the best of all possible worlds and the pessimist is afraid, that this is true.

Screw the Type 2; look at the Type 1. Now there's concealability; IIRC the TNG uniforms had little pockets for those "cricket" phasers.

Well, for one thing they didn't have warp persay, as some one noted. They took advantage of a natural phenomenon.

And also, their society prewar was relgious and pacifist. Both of those would hamper the development of technology. War, and international agresion, has always proven to be a remarkable impetus for technological advancement. Religion on the other hand has proved a remarkable detriment to science.

In TNG books the Bjorans where described as having a large empire before the Cardies became aggressive and made the empire their own.

Empire would be wrong, I don't doubt they visited and colonised other planets though.
