Dracula: Notes From A Virgin's Diary

Post by Patrick Degan »

Turner Classic Movies network has been running a blurb for a new film production of Dracula. Going very much in the opposite direction of recent movies, Canadian film auteur Guy Madden has crafted a silent movie of a ballet version of the classic Dean/Balderston stage play (basis for the 1931 and 1979 films) performed by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Co. and scored to the music of Gustave Mahler. Shot in B/W, with hand-tinted frames as SFX to convey the sense of the blood-horror.

The movie is playing in select art-house engagements for the next month or so. Details can be found here:

If just the idea of this project and the few seconds of footage was enough to engage my interest, it would be well worth checking out.

I like how this looks a lot. In fact, their Dracula seems perfect, and Mina looks pretty much gorgeous.
