Since the Founders have seen the light of the Federation how long will it be before they submit their application for the UFP?

Not for a long long time. They have the whole "tried to destroy the Federation" thing working against them. Also, they might've just claimed they had seen the light to avoid destruction. I mean, we knew the location of their home world and would've went after it if the Dominion hadn't surrendered at Cardassia Prime.

The only reason the Dominion surrended was because they could not bring reinforcements through the wormhole. I'm sure if they could have the situation would have been different. I really doubt that the Federation Alliance could have invaded the Dominion.

They (the Founders) won't join but they will start giving the various member worlds the option of being free and then the Federation will swoop in and assimilate them.

What it really depends on is what kind of an effect Odo's return to the Link will have on the Dominion.

The Dominion's severely weakened state will make them ripe pickings for the Borg Collective. I'm sure the Founders will be fleeing under an impressive Borg assault(several cubes perhaps  ) in the not too distant future.

The Multitudes of Borg couldnt destroy one Intrepid clasls ship, the Dominion in a one on one vs the Federation alone would have wiped them out.

Do you really think the borg stand a chance? Most unlikely, I can't wait for them to assimilate thir first Jem Hadar and give the entire collective a crippling addiction to Ketracel White a.k.a "Crystialline Methium"

In 'I Borg' Picard states that chips synthesize all the body's needs.

Whether or not Odo's ideas change the Dominion remains to be seen, I think over time they'll turn him, all the while looming for a way to reinvade the AQ.

I agree; it's going to take more than just one rogue changeling to, pardon the pun, change the way of the Dominion. And it would prove to be quite interesting if they did turn him...

A more interesting question is how long until the Dominion appear in Enterprise ;) B&B would probably do it.

It wouldn't surprise me if there are a few changelings like Odo, unaware of their origin.

I was under the impression that the Dominion only gave up because of the bodning with Odo.

If b 'n B do that, then I'm bailing once and for all. The Borg in 'Regeneration' - that was one thing, a necessary thing given the changes to the timeline as a result of STVIII. But the NX vs. the Jem'Hadar? NO!

NX-01 vs the Jem'ha'dar is only possible if it's a crap-scout that's damaged and got punted through the wormhole and is destroyed.

However back to the topic.

I think the Dominion will become more 'friendly' eventually. After all, even if they turn Odo, they'll see that the UFP is really as he precieves it

Membership, no. Reluctant alliance, perhaps. An uneasy nonaggression pact, most likely.

Does anyone actually know how big the Dominion really is? You are all saying they were crushed and what not but actually it was just their "colony" empire that got crushed. Without the ability to bring reinforcements through the wormhole it was still very close for the federation. I think if the Founders weren't an issue the Dominion would have packaged and gift wrapped the Feds asses then handed it to them.

As for everyone saying Odo will turn, I completely agree. After all the one female founder was able to turn him against the Federation for a time, and that was just the influence of one voice, imagine the voices of hundreds of thousands trying to turn him.

I for one have always thought that what we saw in the Dominion War was no more then a third of the over all Dominion forces. What I based this on, I have no clue.

The Dominion rules by fear. It could not have sent a warfleet through the wormhole without keeping enough forces at home to suppress dissent. Therefore, it seems likely that they had many more thousands of warships in their home territory. Of course, that begs the question of why the Founder homeworld was completely unguarded in the DS9 finale, but perhaps we could chalk that up to Founder overconfidence.

The rest of their ships were probably scattered around their territory making sure that no star systems got any funny ideas about resisting the Dominion after hearing about its terrible losses in the war (the whole colony forced to surrender, the Founders themselves nearly exterminated by a Federation bioweapon, 2800 ships lost to the wormhole aliens in a single engagement, etc).

I doubt most of there other possessions have any idea how the war is going other then "they want more ships" a couple species of almost completely loyal slave minions to do the fighting and the wormhole being the only line of communication would allow for excellent control of information. Still garrisons would be needed to an extent.

I was half kidding when I made my post, but these magical Borg Synthesizing chips I wouldnt think are programmed to handle crippling drug addictions. these chips probably just handle the vitamins and minerals the body needs.

You never see that it's unguarded or not, all you see is Kira and Odo leaving the station. Then you see them on the Founder's Homeworld.

That's provided the Dominion even tell the GQ citizens about the loss of the AQ.
