ship suggestions needed

Post by Jason von Evil »

Ok, I'm going to try and write a short fanfic. It's about a Feddy starship crewed mostly with cadets that comes under attack by either the Jem'Hadar or some other enemy. They manage to fight off their attacker, but the ship is badly damaged. Anyways, I need suggestions on which ship class I should use. The ships I have in mind are:

Ambassador
Intrepid
Nova
Excelsior
New Orleans

Akira class is a fan-masturbatory piece of shit.

I'd go with either an Excelsior or an Ambassador.

Um...No. No Akiras, Galaxys, Sovereigns or Defiants.

Edit: Niagras are looking nice. But what the hell is hanging off the bottom of the New Orleans?

I'd actually recomend a refitted/upgraded Miranda Class. In this time of war Starfleet would have needed every spare ship it had. The ships left for the kids to play with should be scrapheaps. Red Squad did get a Defiant but they're cream de'la cream(sp). Also you have to figure how many characters you want to develop. Anything larger than an Intrepid class will have 200 or more crewers and thats a lot of people to write about. Where as a smaller yet just as powerful ship will have a smaller crew.

The type of ship that the Maquis use, I believe. It's too small.

Torpedo Tubes, I think, or supposed to be, she's got 3 external racks, for some reason. I've always rather liked the New Orleans as a model, although the tubes are pointless, watched Best of Both Worlds recently to play spot the Kyushu. :)

I've always hated the New Orleans. It's just too ugly for me to like.

I'd really go with the Excelsior. It's a fan favourite, not too powerful, not too weak, and they were abundant in the mid-late 24th Century. Just right. :)

Excelsior. It's a proven design, and it's got a certain classical appeal.

Will the ship be uprated in any way?
No conscience. No law. No stopping them....

....well, maybe a Happy Meal would do it.

In a nutshell, there's only four senior officers on the ship, the captain, XO, CMO, chief engineer. The rest of the ship is crewed by cadets. The whole point is to give them an idea of what'll be like to serve on a ship.

And just how do you expect an Oberth to defend itself against a Jem'Hadar attack ship?

Isn't it obvious? The Jem'Hadar take one look at an Oberth trying to attacking them and burst into laughter. Then one of the Jemmies on the bridge accidently hits the self destruct button and boom.

1/3 of a Promtehteus Class ship, with the other 2/3 destroyed. This swould also explain why its mostly inexperienced crewmembers on the ship.

(emphasis Mine)
I think the premise is faulty, if you where sending them to see how it is to serve on a ship you would send them to a ship that is actually working. If they are good enough to work a ship all by themselves then thats what they should be doing. if they aren't why have them all in the one place.

Use technobable and character sheilds to let the oberth win the battle with a jem hadar attack ship. If bitch and bastard read it they'll hire you to write on enterprise. :)
