In Harry Potter and the Goblet of fire The moody imposter says something along the lines of "thers no counter-curse and no blocking it" while descriping The Adava Kedevra killing curse.
Yet in the final battle of the order of the pheonix. Voldy sends several of theese at Dumbledoor. Who promtly charms some objects to physically block them.
So has Jk Rowling seriously contradicting herself. Or Was the fake moody
only talking about magically blocking?
Blocking the unblockable curse. (Harry Potter spoilers)

Didnt he actually say that there was no counter curse? I'm not sure, but we saw Harry hiding behind gravestones and such in Book 4, so it should be magical shielding instead of physical shielding. Although presumably objects actually in contact with the person using them as a shield would not work, as that would be a little silly.

I think fake-Moody was talking about using magic to block the Killing Curse.
On another note, what does a counter-(curse, jinx, hex, etc.) do? Remove the effect of whatever it's supposed to counter? If so, then there really is no counter-curse for Avada Kedavra because death is irreversible, even for the wizarding world.

No conscience. No law. No stopping them....

I assume he means you can't use a protection charm ( Protego IIRC) to stop it.

There is also the Bob the Angry Flower method, which works on stopping any curse.
